... He's an Agoraphobic.
How is he turning up to the trials?
Pass... Videolink?
Better answer: He's not agoraphobic and he's lying for attention. Last article had him saying that "I plan to wear a purple suit during my court trials. No joke!" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.151906#3610108]
It's a medical condition, and given that his WHOLE CASE is based on the fact that his consoles are his sole way of comfortable social interaction, I'm guessing he's not made this one up. Regards the purple suit thing... I plan to wake up at 6am tomorrow and go running with my dog. Realistically, I'll wake up at 6, switch my alarm off and sleep in til 8, then have to rush to get ready for work. Planning to do something and doing it are two different things.

with all the money he's spending on legal fees, he'd definitely be able to afford a new 360

I've defended this guy on general principle before, but really he's taking this WAY too far now.

Let me be honest, if the guy is that messed up/dysfunctional, then I'd say the guy should be institutionalized to begin with.

Yeah this about sums it up. Well that and the words "Not a chance in hell."
I really have to laugh though 'cause he claims he can't afford to get his 360 fixed, but he can apparently afford a lawyer to sue Microsoft.
In which case:
I mean; Microsoft AND Nintendo?

This guy deserves a friggin backhand or two. He's lucky he is agoraphobic, because if he did go out in public chances are someone would strangle him for being an obnoxious ass.

Actually I think this guy needs a Triple Facepalm.

I'm well aware that agoraphobia is a medical condition, thank you very much. That doesn't mean that he has it though. Similarly, Cancer is a medical condition - that doesn't mean he has it.

I've gone over this before in previous threads about this douchenozzle but he got banned from PSN in the first place, clearly he doesn't value the interactions he has over his consoles highly enough to warrant abiding by the rules and being polite.

He is so trying to make an enemy of himself. This isn't a disorder; he's actually trying to make a name for himself or something. It'd be funny if he got counter-sued, lost, and had to give up the rest of his life to Microsoft or Nintendo. He'd deserve it too.

this is actually a really smart tactic.. it would cost all of these companies more money to fight it than to just give him the money, as he is asking for very little. This doesn't mean I support the bastard, I can just see what he is doing.

I hope this doesn't go all the way, the last thing we need is a class action suite against all of the manufacturers for what amounts to BS
Judge will issue a summary dismissal before it gets to trial, like what happened in the original case against Sony. Sony pays an army of lawyers anyway, it won't cost them anywhere near as much to get it dismissed as to pay the guy out and suffer the consequences (odds are some junior will write up something to send to court, a senior will review, court will agree with it and that's that).

Class action won't happen due to no lawyer wanting to take it up, it hasn't got a chance of winning at all.

This kind of stuff happens all the time, the guy is writing his own submissions to the court (which is obvious, they look like some template he found on the web mixed with random ranting), it gets dismissed pretty quickly, so the costs aren't that high (of course, the costs he did have to cover probably cost more than a new xbox, so he's still full of it)

I'd feel a little sympathy if he sued for the value of the RRoD console.
Wait, why?

He should have a 3 year warranty, and they will mail a box to his house...

The only way they wouldn't is if he modded his console.

And I cannot imagine he would be dumb enough to try to go to court for a RROD when he uses the thing to pirate games.

Apparently not wanting anyone to feel left out, Estavillo has now filed suits against the other two console manufacturers as well. He's seeking $75,000 from Microsoft as a result of his console being hit by the Red Ring of Death; he can't afford to repair or replace the unit because he's disabled, he said, so he's seeking compensation for the "undue stress" he's suffered since the demise of the unit and the "sadness he will have in the meantime of finding one he can afford."
What, he can't afford the free repair or replacement Microsoft offer?

So with all these lawyer fees....
He can't dish out 150 bucks to repair his 360?

That's 15 minutes of lawyer time.

And honestly sounds like the man is a cheat, aimbotter and all those other nice things.

I'm a disabled vet myself, but I can still beat down a newbie... I started playing fps before leet speak heh.

Can't we just say that this guy needs to get a life then get over with it. Seriosly if theres this many "diseses" in one person they'd die of fear from anything. I still don't understand why this guy thinks he needs to be treated differently because of some dissese thats probably self inflicted.

Oh and to add to it.

This is really ridiculous. A man who couldn't spend for shipping and have a homebrew channel till the next patch from Nintendo arrives to screw everyone. Obviously, he's looking for attention.
