I had to explain what a magic bar was to someone doing a degree in video game development.

No joke.

That is seriously disappointing.
Its like explaining what "hp" stands for.
I know right?! I sister thought that "HP Sauce" was "Harry Potter Sauce", because it's British.
I was like:

And she was like:
U mad?

You can't play the Witcher 2 and you call yourself a pc gamer?
Specs surpass the recommended requirements and I don't consider myself a PC gamer?

Problem?

You've never played Pokemon, and you call yourself a gamer?

Had this last week. I haven't played pokemon, so maybe I deserved it.

i can't really think of any, and not really many for English people, we have ones for others, but... no... we in general hate certain things, but don't name them, or we just make jokes about it

i never knew it was British, and i'm sure it tastes horrible... my country disgraces itself AGAIN...(Fish 'n Chips, HP sauce... the only thing we seem to do better is Mustard and colonising(seeing as how we colonised the 'only superpower left'(looks like you forgot us, Russia, North Korea and China?))

I would say: "You only play videogames? And you call yourself a gamer?"
Board- , Card- , Tabletop-, AND pen and paper roleplaying games are a vital part of the definition for a true gamer.

I think that every gamer interested enough in games, should at very least know about The Cake. (I'm not saying he should have played Portal, I'm saying he should have heard and understand the myth) Not that someone who doesn't isn't a gamer, but I would find it 'WEEIIIIIRRDD'

You don't know your computer specs? And you call yourself a gamer?

I kind of agree with this one though. ^^;; I mean, how will you ever know if your pc is good enough for a game otherwise? And how will you know what to upgrade if need be? Etc.

To Fetzenfisch:
I agree to that one too kind of. If you only play video games you're just that...a person that plays video games. Not a gamer.

Ugh... I cringe when someone in the Reach matchmaking lobby is a higher rank than me, and in their commendations, it says "started easy"... I am sorry, people should not be allowed to play multiplayer until they play through the single player at a difficulty that makes sense, like normal for multiplayer, and heroic for firefight. Call me an elitist all you want, but no one likes it when a noob grabs the target designator, and uses it on a single grunt...

"You don't like kilts, football or bagpipes? And you don't hate the English? And you call yourself Scottish!"

Did you know that David Hume, among many other really important people, were Scottish?
How does William Wallace, an ignorant gangster who almost exclusively fought other Scottish people, meant to compare!?

And Bonnie Prince Charlie? A Catholic religious fundamentalist from France?? Really???
While your point is good sir, I am afraid you have missed the point of this thread :D
Yeah, well, it had to be said.

A relevant point might be that I don't prestige on CoD. Why not? Because I don't want to lose all my stuff for the sake of a teeny tiny permutation.
I agree. I never really got the point of Prestige-ing.
"Lose all my pretty guns, for some titles and emblems I won't use? No thanks".
I've only prestiged twice because I was bored.
imo, people that prestige care way too much about showing off their epeen.
Or, if you're like me, like to unlock stuff again. Don't know why, just like to unlock stuff.

"You play on a Wii and you call yourself a gamer?? Hahahaha."

and

"You illegally download games, then use cheats to play through them just so you can watch the cut-scenes and you call yourself a gamer? Seriously??"

Neither were directed at me.
I need to send the last of those quotes to a friend of mine, sadly....

Also, "You don't like beer? And you call yourself Danish!"
From back when I, well, didn't like beer.
