"No Multi-Touch user interface. Games are expensive. No App Store. No iPod."
Call me crazy, but other than the first point these are actually pluses for any gaming devices, and even then Apple must be crazy to bring up user interface...
-games are expensive-> By having 'expensive' games (my DS games are nowhere near as expensive as games on other platforms to begin with) we have an aura of quality, a developer is less likely to release something that is a direct clone of another game or one that isn't properly finished. Developers become accountable for the quality of their games and are forced to adhere to nintendos or sonys high standards (thus the increased cost) as charging more means having a greater responsibility to the consumer.
-No app store. I wouldn't even think this one needs explaining. "Look at those poor bastards, using third party software without the hassle of intrusive, overdone DRM".
-Likewise "No ipod" is a good thing, ipods are terrible, terrible music players. The Sony PSP plays so much better sound quality, the screen has a far higher resolution (for those who watch videos) and is generally superior as an mp3 player, the DS doesn't want to be an mp3 player, which is why it focuses on other things (like the good, relatively cheap games) and it's not like the itouch/iphone will let you listen to music while you game, so it's a stupid point they made to begin with.
-I am going to do a point on the interface as well, Apple boasting that they have multi touch interfaces, which is unnecissary on such a small screen, does not even come close to making up for the consoles complete lack of buttons. Throw on top the terrible quality of the touchscreens, relatively low memory and weak processing power (especially given they are not primarily optimized for gaming) and the itouch/iphone very, very quickly become sub par game platforms. Oh, and yes I know they can be Jailbroken and made a little less retarded, but one shouldn't have to butcher the software of their given gaming platform so as to be able to play games that aren't child friendly (Hey Australian government, that was a subtle hint for you...especialy Atkinson).
