Apple's no stranger to attack ads. PC vs Mac commercials, anyone? I'm sure that apple computers and the iphone are all fine and dandy, but their marketing campaign is so petty and immature that i boycott their products. Same with Pepsi.

"No Multi-Touch user interface. Games are expensive. No App Store. No iPod."
Call me crazy, but other than the first point these are actually pluses for any gaming devices, and even then Apple must be crazy to bring up user interface...

-games are expensive-> By having 'expensive' games (my DS games are nowhere near as expensive as games on other platforms to begin with) we have an aura of quality, a developer is less likely to release something that is a direct clone of another game or one that isn't properly finished. Developers become accountable for the quality of their games and are forced to adhere to nintendos or sonys high standards (thus the increased cost) as charging more means having a greater responsibility to the consumer.

-No app store. I wouldn't even think this one needs explaining. "Look at those poor bastards, using third party software without the hassle of intrusive, overdone DRM".

-Likewise "No ipod" is a good thing, ipods are terrible, terrible music players. The Sony PSP plays so much better sound quality, the screen has a far higher resolution (for those who watch videos) and is generally superior as an mp3 player, the DS doesn't want to be an mp3 player, which is why it focuses on other things (like the good, relatively cheap games) and it's not like the itouch/iphone will let you listen to music while you game, so it's a stupid point they made to begin with.

-I am going to do a point on the interface as well, Apple boasting that they have multi touch interfaces, which is unnecissary on such a small screen, does not even come close to making up for the consoles complete lack of buttons. Throw on top the terrible quality of the touchscreens, relatively low memory and weak processing power (especially given they are not primarily optimized for gaming) and the itouch/iphone very, very quickly become sub par game platforms. Oh, and yes I know they can be Jailbroken and made a little less retarded, but one shouldn't have to butcher the software of their given gaming platform so as to be able to play games that aren't child friendly (Hey Australian government, that was a subtle hint for you...especialy Atkinson).

a chart showing how the iPhone's 21,1878 available games trumps the 3,680 on DS and 607 on PSP.
Yea.. Flash games don't count. Ever. I'm thinking more along the lines of Assassins Creed, Socom, Splinter Cell, etc, etc on my PSP.

And the gauntlet is thrown. How will the other portable device companies respond? I'm hoping for ALL OUT WARFARE! LET THE BLOOD OF THE GUILTY SPILL IN AN EPIC COMBAT BETWEEN MULTI-NATIONAL CORPORATIONS! THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!

Okay, I'll stop. I had my fun...
Wishful thinking, the opposing companies would have to take Apple seriously for that to work. =P

Anyone else having flashbacks of the NGage?
From the moment I first heard about the iPhone. Sad thing is, the iPhone is succeeding where the NGage was a superior gaming platform. In that you could actually play decent games on it.

The complaints leveled at the NGage was that it was unsightly when you held it up to your ear, although I have never seen an iPhone user without a headset so..

From someone who thought the NGage was awesome.. lol

Apple... seriously now, your computers are like a CANCER on most PC games...
What on earth is going to convince the gaming crowd that your poxy little 1-year-warrenty-then-set-to-break-hand-held-trash-piles are going to be as reliable or good as the DS or PSP's ...

No really, convince me, Then I can shove my broken ipod nano down your throats and leave you to choke on your own BS. None of them have the battery power, the appropriate control, or any kind of SCREEN reliabilty. (Washed out colour? Most typical ipod problem)
You might be able to sell this to most retards, but I ain't biting that stagnant bait.

I hope Sony and Nintendo rip them a new one with some new innovation.

Alright, alright, perhaps I should have clarified that statement a bit before posting. What I meant by teenage girls were ones who are totally immersed in popular culture, and thus more likely to buy Apple's shit because it looks good with their purse.

Teenage girls who have an IQ of over 80 and can think for themselves, keep up the good work. All four of you...
I really should introduce you to most of my peers. It might work to dampen some of that stereotyping urge. Been a teen doesn't make one stupid. Being a teenage girl doesn't either.
I'm not speaking out of prejudice, Labyrinth, I'm a teen myself. Most guys and girls my age are completely motivated by shallow social doctrine, and anti-intellectualism is rampant across the board.
Hiya Labryinth! xD lol

I'm a guy, early 20's, so may not qualify to speak in your p.o.v., but I really do think most teen girls are stupid. If it helps, I think the same thing about teen guys. I actually have a higher opinion of girls than guys intellect wise (given guys convos (generalising here) are sex, cars, sex, sport, sex, sex with cars/sport/groups), which means my opinion is even lower considering how they drop the smarts and act like slutty blondes because it's the expected social norm.

Note: Rabid feminists are still considered anti-intellectual from my p.o.v., it's really going to get a lot of women killed.

The iPhone is a pile of shit. Sure, the graphics might be cool, but the controls are about as intuitive as trying to juggle flaming chainsaws while standing on an erupting volcano. The screen gets about 1.2 million little smudges on it every time you play, and its awkward as all manners of hell to try and hold the iPhone whilst "gaming". Sorry Steve, but not this time. Not this time.

This just adds to my belief that Apple is full of themselves. They make quality stuff, but they're extremely arrogant.

Just wondering (and quoting this to highlight my wonderings...), when was the last time Apple attempted to sell it's products on it's own strengths instead of just stating what's wrong with a competitor? The PC vs Mac adverts told the world that Apple was not Microsoft, while the PC adverts showed the world what a PC actually did.

Bleh, I think this is all just pent up rage from the time I was laughed out of an Apple Store because my iPod was second hand...

It's rather amusing really. It's like that kid at school who claims he's so great at stuff and everyone just knows that he's talking out of his ass.

Ironic as this is, typing it from an iPod touch...

No way in heck this thing would stand on it's own.

This makes me want to fucking punch him... you don't need an iPod. You don't need a god damn app store. You don't even need a fucking Multi-Touch user interface. Once again, Apple has confused amusing gimmicks with essentials.

Yeah...but it's an iPhone. So what now? It's a jack of all trades, master of fail.
