Assassin's Creed III Could be set in World War II

I really don't think we need another WWII game for a while, but maybe the American Revolution would be cool.

Stupid Idea of the Day: We could set the game in real modern times, like in the past 100 years (other than WWII). The designers could just sayhis father was an assassin during a very recent war, or a non-existant war (The game takes place in the near future, but we can fit some crap in there), besides, we never see Desmond's father or grandfather, so it could be relatively recent.

I would like to see the game set in the Time that Desmund is in right now. But if we really have to play the history game, I think we can do a lot better than World War II. What about the Spanish Colonization of South America. At the end of Assassin's Creed (1) they showed the pieces of Eden all over the world, there could be more than enough reason for them to go there. French Revolution could be fun. What about going East, if they're looking for the pieces of Eden tell me how cool would it be to see, an Altyeir (Spelling I know) style assassin go up against Ninjas, Samurai, or Chinese Warriors. Since they've shown the roots in Arabia, it's more than possible that there could be some African Assassins, in the time before colonization wiped out much of the African Empires. I know I'm just being somewhat of a prick, but there is so much unexplored world history that would be so great in Videogames, and especially a good game like Assassin's creed could really bring out and explore cultures.

Wait, wait, wait...A British assassin? Sure we have the SAS who can dig in and hide themselves to the point that a heat detector can't find them, but an Assassin? I would prefer another middle eastern protagonist or a Japanese ninja for god sake not some whiny character who kills the Hitlers of Axis and Allies (also £5 on most of the evil allies being British, though im assuming your going to be killing a lot of Axis Hitlers).

Also, its a bit soon to talk of AC3, AC2 isn't even out yet.

(Finally, if the main characters voice is the stereotype British woman, I'm going to boycott AC3)

I'd keep it before the wide spread use of fire arms. It would turn into a shoot not a stealth (and in my opinion) melee action game. Sword play was one of my favorite favorite parts of the game. As for the female character please leave her clothes on. I may be an almost 15 year old boy but I still like taste in my games.

Meh i wish they stuck with the renassance and crusade era. no other game has been a 3rd person action from that perspective all they would be doing would be following in the foot steps of everyother game, trying to get a slice out of the WWII pie. THough a women charcter could be different if not sexy :)

I thought that assasin's creed was about trying something different that worked very well but not perfectly

How about....WW1, American Revolution/ The War of 1812, Ancient Rome, The French Revolution/ Napoleonic Era, War of the Roses and/or something with the Jacobites, the 4th Crusade, or even THE FUTURE?

World War 2 could be done well, but it would take a rush of fresh air into the time period to break off from the pack.

Just another plot to assassinate Hilter.

I think it should take place in modern day Siberia, what with the nukes and all.

Or in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I would be sad if the end of the trilogy wasn't in the future city from the first game. The first two games would be set in old cities with low technology, and it would be awesome to finish off as a modern day assassin in a sprawling metropolis.

Hitler was Templar who went off his rocker. He wasnt supposed to start killing all the Jews.

Female Assassin: Yes
World War II: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

That would take away half the charm of Assassin's Creed. There are millions of settings to explore all over the world all over the time. It doesn't matter from which angle you do WWII, it's still done to death.

The French revolution would be awesome if you ask me ^^
Seconded. That would be awesome.

Well. As a long term history student this screams "Noooooo!" to me. As a gamer, also "Noooooo!".

As for the desired time period, the English civil war, the French revolution, Victorian Britain and WW1 appeal to me the most.
Seconded. I hope they go for one of these!

They HAVE to do the French Revolution next. It makes the most sense, and seems like a "logical" choice after the Renaissance Era (at least, that's the order of how I learned about them in History class).

It's very fitting. They have a couple of historical assassinations to get ideas from, and not to mention the French Revolution was rather bloody and would provide ample reasons (story/narrative) to start assassinating people.

What makes Assassin's Creed appealing to me is that it goes into time periods and settings games very seldom go into, so one set in World War II would be a bad move. Plus it sounds a little bit like Velvet Assassin.

Not to mention, there seems to be a Piece of Eden in France/Spain. [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/67/AssassinsCreed_The_Piece_of_Eden_Map.png]

I agree, I'd love to see the French Revolution, another time period that has rarely, if ever, been seen in games.
