Yeah, love that little bald kid...I mean:

YEAH! EVEN RENTED THE GAME! Which was decent, actually. Not great by any means, but playable.
Hahahaha. Lol It's bald kids with aliens.
Yeah anyway I'm pretty syked out about it. Looks like it's gonna be pretty awesome. Though I'm watching it for the alien species and marines.

It just appears to be the filmographic version of a Tech Demo

The story is so-so, the characters are clichéd

I'm not saying I don't like it, or that It's gonna be bad, I just see it as a hasty excuse to show off awesome technology

Completley unintrested, but will see it because it's a good film, but not because I think it's anything memorable beyond "oooh...pweedy!"

I'm not but I have a good reason why... I'm watching it in 3D on Saturday and I've purposely avoided avoided every thing to do with the movie... including trailers or even just news, I haven't read on other post here except the are you psyched part.

Reason: I often look way too much into movies and it often ruins it for me, so as a little experiment I though I'd go into a big screen movie knowing as little as possible about the film. See when I buy movies on DVD that I was never really into when it was at the cinema I find that I enjoy them more because I don't know what to expect. So the theory here is I may enjoy the movie more if I go into it having no idea what it's about or what's going to happen. I'm not psyched so even if the movie is bad I'm not disappointed and I also miss all the hype.

To be honest, I can't really see how this will revolutionise cinema, as some reviewers/publications are calling it. It looks OK but not mind-bogglingly excellent.

I REALLY want to see this movie

The premise is interesting and the fact that they're making a game in tandem with the movie that gives us a purposefully different side of the world is cool.

I have low expectations, it takes more than shiny graphics to win me over.

And seriously the aliens have American accents wtf?

edit - lol, the above was in response to the forum name. I realized it did not make sense if taken as a response to your post.
Hey, who has two thumbs and hates Todd Packer? THIS GUY.

IGN gave it the thumbs up. That's a good sign, I suppose. I don't want to read a lot of reviews because of the spoilers. I'm hoping for more Aliens-T2 and less Titanic in terms of acting, but I'm not that concerned, as it's got a pretty spectacular cast.

I trust these guys - they're not inclined to give out five-star ratings at the drop of a hat. [http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/review.asp?FID=133552]

In fact, I've been excited about it for quite a while, and one must understand that I have a hyperactive critical sense which works very strongly at blocking out impulses to watch or buy new movies or games which I may even be mildly critical of. I mean, this year, I focused utter loathing on Prototype and inFamous, accusing them of being indicative of everything that was wrong with modern gaming, and even held disdain for games like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Borderlands, even though everybody seemed to love them. As the same impulses work to a slightly lesser extent when it comes to movies, I rarely leave a cinema disappointed with my choice.
That review used the term "splenetic internet fanboy types who?ve apparently made their minds up about Avatar before seeing it" - sound familiar at all? :p Anyway, I am indeed looking forward to seeing Avatar. To be honest, this is far from what I expected Avatar to look like when I first heard about it (I thought would be (literally) darker for starters, probably with less jungles and the like) but that hopefully won't stop me from enjoying it.

Also, to those people going on about how this films name is stealing that of Avatar : The Last Airbender, it's hardly like Avatar is in anyway an uncommon name. Do you also think there is only one product of a persons imagination called "Dark Angel"?

I promise to work on the double-posting...

I would really like to see how many people who've posted on here make a sharp turn of opinion after opening weekend if that buzz is as exceptional as all of Cameron's other films (except the last one, of course).

I'm going to see it in less than 2 days but I'm not sure wheter to be hyped or not. I am still trying (and failing) to bludgeon the many Twighlight fans I know. Maybe the movie will suck me in when I watch it.

I'm not hyped to see it but I'm happy that I am and to be honest the only reason I'm going is because I won free tickets...

Avatar? That show was awesome! Oh, wait...

But seriously, I'm not expecting it to blow me away, but I'm planning to see it this Friday.

Actually, the implications with that line were focused on the people who are have negative opinions about the movie - the "it's just Fern Gully/Dances With Wolves in space" types. Yes, I'm a splenetic internet fanboy of a type - it just isn't the sort that they're addressing in this review.

And yes, there are going to be people who bash the film for some of the more questionable hippie-style sentiments in the film, but then, I could hardly blame them for that.
I've heard the "Dances with Wolves" theory as well, which baffles me in a way, as such as I don't see the point in bringing that up. I can see where they are coming from with it - character X is sent in to "infiltrate", shall we say, a particular group, be they native Americans or blue skinned aliens. and instead of being against them ends up sympathising with their cause. Again, hardly a concept unique to one particular story.

By that same token, we may as well just refer to The Last Samurai as "Dances with Wolves in Japan" or "Dances with Wolves with Samurai"...

Also, in relation to jojoemon's post: ecopunk - let's seriously hope nobody actually decides to go there.

I think it looks good. Even if it should be full of clichés, well, you could always say that of James Cameron. You can make a classic with clichés, if everything is in the right spirit, well-structured and so on.

After seeing Roger Ebert's review of it, I'm pumped to see it.

At first I thought it was gonna suck. Hard. But all the reviews are very positive so I'll give it a try.

I'm looking forward to it. I heard that it was pretty good and if nothing else it should be fun to watch, right? Also, there is no way it could be as good as T2. Absolutely not. Terminator 2 was Cameron's best movie and it will always be that way.

I'll watch it but I think I'm still gonna be wondering why they where fighting in the first place. For the native peoples, its your planet, do you not have anywhere else to go? For the humans, ITS A PLANET, you dont need to take the whole thing to build your giant robots of mass destruction (like you did with earth apparently).
