Super ultra mega fanboy mode activated:

Halo 3's opening... mostly based on the sheer excitement I had for the games release, I was dizzy with anticipation with the release of Halo 3 and so when all other noise in the house stopped and the great music started up... I was entranced.

Super Ultra Mega Fanboy mode deactivated.

War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.

In the year 2077, after millennia of armed conflict, the destructive nature of man could sustain itself no longer. The world was plunged into an abyss of nuclear fire and radiation. But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world - but war, war never changes.

In the early days, thousands were spared the horrors of the holocaust by taking refuge in enormous underground shelters, known as vaults. But when they emerged, they had only the hell of the wastes to greet them - all except those in Vault 101. For on the fateful day, when fire rained from the sky, the giant steel door of Vault 101 slid closed... and never reopened. It was here you were born. It is here you will die. Because, in Vault 101: no one ever enters and no one ever leaves.

Most definatly I got that song on my iPod. Other favorites would be all of the Gran Turismos but the music in 5P's opening gets annoying, wish we had the same one the Japanese got in their version. Out of all of them my favorite would have to be GT2 because the song used was that of a band who loved the game so much the wrote the wrote a song about it. (Beat that Forza!)
GT:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGH3uG4gGI4
GT2:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e701QHyCr0o
GT3:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vZR7LNJqg8
GT4:Can't find U.S. opening
GT5P:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6JC6M-kISU&feature=related

Killzone 2 is another one. If i don't skip it before Brian Cox's lines I just can't stop it. His voice is just chilling.

Last one I can think of is Conflict:Vietnam mostly for the song they play. Wish I could find the vid

Just because everyone and their mother is spouting the same three of four games over and over, I might as well be different.

The Death Knight Intro to World of Warcraft is nice.

Gives you a real sense of immersion into the character. The Lich King's commands whispered to you, killing a cities worth of innocent civilians, riding a giant frost wyrm and taking out an entire army of pious knights as they throw away their petty lives in defense of their Inquisitor, cutting through the cocky defenders as you can almost see the shock on their ignorant faces as they die..

WHERE IS YOUR LIGHT NOW?! HUH?! HUH?! WHERE IS---

*Cough* Sorry.

Final Fantasy 8, the music, the graphics at the time, the way it hinted at different parts of the story with out giving anything away and on top of all that the main character and protagonist slugging it out with cool as weapons on a mountain in a storm.

It set the pace of the game, and the music just made it feel epic.
That is one hell of an intro! I was a big fan of 8 (yes, i am willing to accept hideous amounts of criticism) and the intro, along with all the other cutscenes, were part of the reason. Can anyone say that they didn't like the Garden Battle?

Other favourites of mine include Fallout and Gran Turismo. Whilst not as pretty as they used to be, both got me very excited about the game i was about to play!

For sheer BSI so crazy it's good Rising Zan [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxNcgvbXwY]

For epic "I'm about to whoop some robot tail" feel Omega Boost [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-g-83_emKE]

For epic "hey, why isn't this a movie" feel Ace Combat 5 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J6g9e_s1wc]

And for something that just really grabbed me and pulled me into there whole world, I don't know FFXII [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GsmF4w6TbE] just does it for me.

With intros, give me games with strong, amazing, music to pump the blood, excitement.

Soul Blade and Chrono Cross two good examples of this.

Two games that made me want to find out more of the game and get to what it had shown me.

Nearly all of the Warhammer franchise games have had brilliant intro cinematics but the three that come to mind are as follows are vanilla Dawn of War,Mark of Chaos/Battlemarch and finally the full version of the Warhammer:Age of Reckoning cinematic but my favourite one that doesnt come from Warhammer would have to be TESIV:Oblivion or Red Alert 2:Yuri`s Revenge.
