I want a dance mod, the by then Lady GaGa's hit song will do :)

I dunno some mods really just well I guess.
See if mods make the game wholly different it actually can be pretty nice. For a second play through!

I disagree. But I should clarify, official parts of the game are what make up the game, not fan-based addons.
Are you honestly trying to say that Oblivion can't be improved?
that's a trick question. Yes it can be improved, but I don't consider people's Mods part of the actual game, just fanbase stuff (I believe the same thing with Left 4 Dead and the Half-Life series). If Bethesda wanted to come out with an expansion (and they do usually) to improve upon the game, they can.

Obviously they would. The modding community is absolutely massive, and I can't even play Oblivion anymore without the fantastic mod done by the community. Mods can add hundreds of hours to a game, Skyrim will (hopefully) not be an exception.

That's great to hear, though I kind of expected it to be moddable like their other games.
Yea.
Will the console versions be moddable?
That would be news.
Would be cool if people could use the creation kit to make a mod, then use a USB to import it to consoles.

I'm sure Sony would be on board for that. Now only if we could convince Microsoft.
I know there are a couple of mods you can get for the ps3 version of UT3 and you can mod a few things in either console version of Borderlands. It's possible, just not often done and when it is done it's little things, not the super-revitalizing mods you get for Fallout 3.

this is on my top 3 TO BUY list:

1-Mass effect 2

2-Skyrim

3-Battlefield 3
You know you edit your own post right? you don't need 3 posts in a row to say different things.
yes, but when i posted my first post, my browser went nuts and started refreshing all the time, so i had to restart the browser and found that i had the same post 3 times, so i edited them, the Escapist needs a delete post option

I'm all for modding, but here's to hoping that it isn't an excuse to let the gaming community fix all of the in-game bugs instead of Bethesda, like in the last two Bethesda titles.

Though after fiddling with Wrye Bash for 2 years, I'm not sure if I have the patience to mod another Elder Scrolls game.

Well, this confirms that I have to get a new PC to play the PC version. Better start saving up my money.

Bethesda encourage modding quite a lot, in fact, they half-made Fallout 3 and let the fans make all the good stuff.

Still wasn't that good.

I can't wait until November, but I'll probably get it on 360 so the mod kit won't affect me.

I'm still not sure how you come to that conclusion. "It can be improved if they improve it, but not if anyone else improves it"?

Not to mention that with no mods whatsoever, the PC version has all the same content, with an easier menu system and better graphics. Not sure how that's worse than the console version.

I never said it was worse on PC. I'm not sure where you got that idea. I'm saying that Oblivion can only be "improved" by the original creators of the game. Any "improvement" created by others is not actually part of the game.

Why?

You can't improve anything in your life without getting the original architect/designer/inventor involved?

Translation: There will be a mod out there that will apply breasts to everything. Monsters and NPCs alike.

I had thought this a given but I'm still really pleased to see this confirmed. There have been so many awesome mods for Bethesda games it'd be a massive shame to shut that door.

Already mentioned but, yea, the console versions might as well not exist.

The only thing I was worried about has been disproved! Now all I need is a new graphics card, because this new engine is going to chew my current one and spit it in my face, along with my CPU.

no, you see I view Oblivion as a work of art. The very idea of "improving" Oblivion is entirely subjective, but the only way to change Oblivion at all and have it remain to be the same game is to have the original authors change it. Because it is up to the original creators to decide what is and what isn't Oblivion.

Thus the console versions are rendered pointless.
Pretty much my reaction. Though I will need to get more memory before I get this for PC.
