I can't say this is the best idea in the world, but at least Dovahkiin is an interesting-sounding name (so long as the kid says "I was named after a Viking warrior" rather than "I was named after a made-up language in a game"). Besides, we let that cat out of the bag after we let Frank Zappa name his kids Dweezil, Moon Unit and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen.

[small]Say, what's the dragon-alphabet word for "Tentacle Bear"?[/small]

Well isn't that just great. Condemning kids to years of bullying for the sake of publicity. I hate to be a killjoy, but really...?
This statement is wrong on many levels.
1. Dovahkiin is an awesome name.
2. Kindergarden though 4th grade would be awesome for the kid named "Dragonborn".
3. You get a secret prize!

I wish my was "Dovahkiin"...it sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I don't plan on having a child this year.

Hmm. As awesome as that is, I don't think I'd ever want to have the name of my child directly associated with a marketing ploy.

Kind of takes the personal joy out of that part of becoming a parent, y'know?
This. It's quite degrading, when you think about it.
It is...though phonetically, at least it sounds more interesting than my current name (which is half a step above the most generic name in history).
Still, how would you like to be that kid some 16 years later, and decide to derive the origin of your name...and then you discover you're effectively a more subtle living form of product-placement?

I need to go out and get a girl preggers asap!
This is our daughter Dove?
This is our son, Dave?

Hell I'd take it as my surname! It doesn't specify it has to be a first or last name does it?

I know it's supposed to be a joke, but I still kinda think it's of poor taste. First off, it would be a bit difficult for a child to grow up with "Dovahkiin" as a first name, and don't even get me started on job interviews. Second, it's complicated enough to bring a child into the world without programming its conception and its birth. Even in the best of circumstances, the chances of conception are only 25% each cycle, and you should never, ever do a C-section for convenience. In the absence of complications, natural birth is always preferable as C-section involves some pretty major abdominal surgery and other risks I won't bore you with. So yeah, I really don't know how or why anyone would accept this challenge.

Also, you're welcome! ^_^

I have a friend who was born on the release date of the N64, interestingly, he is a zealous fan-boy for nintendo, thus I once joked that he was a pre-order bonus (see what I did there?)

That's... unresponsible parenting.
"You have a stupid name because 12 years ago there was this game contest, son."
Then it might be a case where games do lead to violence :p

I guess the name could work in Scandinavian countries. Other than that...yeah it sounds awesome, but be prepared for many years of bullying. You wouldn't want to put your kid through that now would you?
