This MUST be some kind of test or something, maybe THIS is how the governments are deciding who should be purged from the gene pool.

The name is awesome. The kid would earn major nerd points and since they are inheriting the earth some time in the future, he might become dictator of earth.

Truly the only award they can really promise is that your kid will be taken into care on November 12 2011

Ok, that is about 9 months from now and it takes... uhh... well, I won't be surprised at the large number of geek babies born then... Plus who would torture their child like that?

Hmm. As awesome as that is, I don't think I'd ever want to have the name of my child directly associated with a marketing ploy.

Kind of takes the personal joy out of that part of becoming a parent, y'know?
Why not just name the kid, provide the info, win the thing, and then change the name back to whatever it was that you wanted in the first palce?

Whats preventing the parents from naming their kid and then just changing the name after they get their reward?

Also, does aborting a child on that day get you any special bonuses?

They could have just given out free games to parents whose children are born on 11.11.11.
Also did anyone think about a GIRL called Dovahkiin.

To be honest i've seen people with worse names, it actually sounds quite cool if you don't explain it.

Who would name their child Dovahkiin for an unknown reward?

But I guess you could name the child Dovahkiin and then change it's name the next day...

As an Elder Scrolls fan, if my child was born on November 11th this year, that would create a serious conflict of interest, regardless of choosing a name (I probably wouldn't go with this, but she would have to endure some very nerdy suggestions). Play ESV vs spend first few days with new born child. Not an easy call, I've waited longer for ESV than I have my child XD

Any sensible ES fan will have arranged to have already had their child well in advance of this year, or will avoid conceiving so as to avoid birth coinciding within a month or two or release. What? Don't look at me like that.

I have an older brother that goes by his middle name because he hates his first name. Not a big deal. Plus, if telemarketers call asking for, "Alma", he knows that they are telemarketers. I really don't see much of a problem with this promotion - Dovahkiin is a lot better than some names parents come up with.

Well isn't that just great. Condemning kids to years of bullying for the sake of publicity. I hate to be a killjoy, but really...?
Yeah. I mean, I know they're joking (the odds of any couple getting a kid on that exact day are pretty slim) but think about it...What if someone WINS?

That kid won't survive middle school.
