I like the idea of horse armor (not armour) though the fast travel system mades horses kind of unneeded. If they didn't have fast travel (I am in favor of fast travel and use the consol in Morrowind to fast travel) and people were spending a ton of time on their horse this idea would be a lot more popular.
I'm completely against fast travel unless it's built into the game. It was such a disappointment that Oblivion didn't have some equivalent of Guild Guides or Silt Striders. Instead they decided to ruin immersion.

I hope they fix this in Skyrim... but it's unlikely.

Yah now this is going to inspire Bethesda to realease more crappy DLC!

It's Operation Anchorage all over again.

Also who needs horses when you have the magical ability of fast travel.

I have horse armour but never use it as I have the Akatosh flying mounts mod (get a dragon instead of horse). But I only have horse armour because I got the GOTY plus every dlc for £6.80. Gotta love steam sales.

I guess if you're that hardcore, 2 bucks isn't that much, if it makes you feel better. I didn't get one myself

I am amused at how the horse armo(u)r DLC degenerated into discussions on British/Canadian/American English usage.
Yeah, it's like those conversations you have with friends.

They start out on a reasonable topic, then they spiral out to something you've never expected it to go to.

For example, one conversation with friends went from Religion to being bald.

In between those two, the topics were: racism, then places we'd retire to, then genocide, then religion being a cult, then racism/racist jokes, to being bald.

OT:

Meh... I don't see what the hate for the Horse Armor. It looks alright, and is a nice idea (a way of upping the defense on your mode of transportation).

Playing Oblivion just to finish it it's just a loss, but Bethesda sold alot more because they added such features(fast travel beeing one of the worse)so they atract more people who don't actually like to roleplay. Since the release of the game I have played around 1000 hours and never used fast travel. It's a roleplay game and even small things like horse armour actually add to immersion.Beeing an altmer is pretty much a must having your horse equiped with the light/elvish armour.Same goes for an imperial knight.

It's a strange world where people view more options, especially cosmetic, as somehow bad for the customer. I only ended up owning the horse armor when I bought all the DLC together in the Knights of the Nine expansion some time later when it was discounted, but that's because that's all I wanted to pay for it. I never felt DLC was a bad idea, nor would I ever disparage someone for having the audacity to spend their money on their entertainment in a way they so choose.

If a company I like that produces games I enjoy can find a way to make more money, especially extending the life of a title I particularly like, I think that's fantastic.

So they made, what, like $3 bucks that day? The article sounds like hundreds of these things are flying off the shelf each day, when it's probably closer to 1 or none.

The point, as Hines said, is that it's about "value." For two bucks, what the hell - you literally cannot get a decent bag of chips for that price. There's value there for some people, apparently more people than we may have thought, and since Bethesda isn't kicking down our doors and putting a gun to our heads to make us buy this stuff, what's the concern?

And apologies for the confusion about horse armor being just an aesthetic upgrade, I honestly didn't realize it added HP to horses.

well it was the americans who changed it, armour is not pronounced arm or, so it should not be spelled as such
Devil's advocate: It's not pronounced "arm our" either. Should it be armer?
Probably lol, if I had my way everything would be spelt how you said it

The armor makes your horse much tougher to kill. for most horses it doubles their health.
IT IS NOT PURELY COSMETIC. do your research.

I probably would have bought it if it came out on PS3. I don't care if it's useless - I'm one of those people that needs things purely for aesthetics. The guy who wears the crappiest armour in the game even if he has the best because he prefers the look of the former.
