Do you not understand context?
Yes. I do. And you're reaching.

Because if I wanted to ridicule anything you were saying I would have included your post. However, my post was for someone who I felt made a broader point i.e. another context.
You feel he was making a broader point when he directly referenced my tastes?
You have greatly misunderstood the situation, so it is highly hypocritical of you to make associations of "reaching".

You comment was placed into another conversation, that means the present conversation dictates context, not yours. That's the entire point of using another comment as a launching point.

Heh.

I can think of a few franchises which are bigger than Mass Effect. However, I think it's a combination of a zeitgeist, the ultra passionate Bioware fans and the iconic nature of the trilogy.

Yes, because your 'tastes' didn't factor into the equation.
Then you shouldn't have used a comment that was talking about them, it's just that simple.

You're talking in circles, so I assume we're done here?

I've done more than explain myself on something so obvious and you have insisted on taking it personally. If it mattered so much to you, fucking ask for clarification before you bust your knee.

It's that simple.

What's stopping you?

I kinda wanted one for my PC *confession*, but thankfully I wasn't given the temptation.

i know i'm talking about different fanbases here and i know that the fans of ME are bigger in numbers, but why do i only hear complaining on ME3 when SFxTK did exactly the same and in my opinion much worse. they promised a feature, that would give you the ability to play with a friend on the couch the game co-op, what happened? it was only available on the ps3 version and there will be no patch to put it on the xbox 360 version or the pc version, that still has to come out.
This! This right here in bold needs to be more well known. They actually advertised this feature being in all the versions, but it wasent until after the game was released that everyone found out the sad truth.

Bioware just made an empty promise, Capcom strait up lied (maybe even tricked its audience). People should stop wasting time with this dumb case, drop it and sue Capcom who actully falsely advertised.

A bit off topic yes, but I fell gamers are pointing to the wrong developer and letting the other get away.
If you think Capcom did wrong by you then go complain about just like Bioware fans do towards bioware.

Oh yeah just so you know then you to will be called an entitled whiner and in a few weeks masses of people will call you names for not wanting to stop.

I see derp and straw men being beaten up.

Really I dont want a happy ending dudes.
I want one that was not written by a pair of brain damaged dribbling high school dropouts who think that depressing equals deep.

Red Dead Redemption had a GREAT ending despite being dark.
ME3 has a BAD ending even though its dark.

We were told it would not be ending A, B, and C, that it would have changed depending on our choices, and that it would have closure.

It failed in ALL of those regards, and has more plot holes in it than grade 8 fanfiction. Which is actually INSULTING to grade eight fanfiction comparing it to ME3.
If people cant see past their ad money they get from EA, Bioware fan boyism, or artistic integrity I weep for our species.

Its bad no matter how you look at. Matrix 3 bad, the ROOM bad, BATTLEFIELD EARTH bad.

God I cant believe I ever mocked the Witcher games
I would like the option, the chance at a happy ending. Or at least one with more Sweetness and slightly less Bitterness. Like Lemonade with sugar. Yes some of my freinds/allies die. But as long as it means something we can stomach it. Red Dead Redemption Honestly I saw that ending coming. 'Outlaws to the end'. The whole game was kinda foreshadowing things. 'you can't change john.' all that stuff. Plus I didn't trust those Fed's for a minute. John's final stand was great. It was dark but it meant something.

ME3's ending means....jackshit...

Ha... HAHA.... AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAhaHAAAHAHAAAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!

Oh... oh... bwaha... hahahahahahaahaha.... aaaahhhh... ahhh.

Seriously though ME3 was like a 'too big to fail, but then it did' deal. The bad thing was that it genuinely was great... but then the ending. Oh the ending.

Uh, then the BBB is still filled with morons. This is not the first time the BBB has supported something that is completely and unequivocally wrong. Seriously there is a laundry list of instances when the BBB has put their stamp of approval on a business that within the same year that same organization is found guilty of fraud, extortion and other illegal business practices and had been for years.

So thankfully the BBB has basically no actual weight in this matter. Because this is a moronic baseless decision. Simply put you cannot claim that peoples interpretation of "promises" are advertisements. Hell there is still no evidence of actual advertisements being made that have not been fulfilled.
May I direct you to this blog post which has a wealth of such examples, most of which are far more specific than than a quick skim off the ME3 website?

Choice Excerpt:

Interview with Casey Hudson (Director)
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2012/01/10/mass1525-effect-3-cas5ey-fdsafdhudson-interviewae.aspx?PostPageIndex=2

Interviewer:
[Regarding the numerous possible endings of Mass Effect 2] "Is that
same type of complexity built into the ending of Mass Effect 3?"

Hudson:
"Yeah, and I'd say much more so, because we have the ability to build
the endings out in a way that we don't have to worry about eventually
tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is coming to an end
with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. At
this point we're taking into account so many decisions that you?ve made
as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It's not even in any way
like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings
there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C
.....The endings have a
lot more sophistication and variety in them."

Great post, really it is a class act.

Unfortunately, as it has been pointed out... if Casey Hudson promised a gold brick in every box of ME 3... but there was no agreement between parties... then it is nothing but some shit he said.

Did he lie?

Sure.

Is he liable for the lie?

Nope. Not in the slightest.

The advertisement on the website is the advertisement.

Now, as far as the unit sales of the game... 3.5 million? Fuck'ya kiddin. That's a composite brick and mortar order number coupled with digital download. 1.5 ~ 2.0 million units have moved off the shelves, leaving around 1 mil units gathering dust. The game is already in the grips of the "trade cycle", so "new" is about done.

Keep in mind, EA planned to ship upwards to 5 million units... so someone just made a 50~100 million dollar mistake with this. Weeeeeee! Watch that stock plummet. Just like I bet on this game being shit (and it is), and bet against EA's stock (and it fell), I also bet someone or some-people have gotten their collective asses ripped apart behind the scenes on this deal.

Speaking of asses.

Still a better ending... happy ending?

I am well aware that you may not have intended to say what you did, but the fact remains you did say it, and you don't mind that you insulted me with your careless words.
Typically when you insult a person by mistake, you attempt to rectify the situation, you do not defend the statement and compound the issue.

You communicated poorly and doubled down on the mistake.

Good-freaking-lord, people, it's just a goddamn VIDEO GAME. I mean, I am passionate about gaming, and I love Mass Effect as much as the next gamer, but is this seriously happening? A month later and people still haven't let it go? I mean, I didn't like the ending to the cop-out that was Dragon Age 2, but I'm not writing letters to my congressman about it.

I mean I was a little disappointed that the big decisions, in the end, didn't matter mechanically at the end-game, but is all this really necessary? Some people people need to seriously re-evaluate their lives if the ending to a game has shaken their fragile existence

The advertisement on the website is the advertisement.
Simply because an incorrect statement is made a million times doesn't make it any less incorrect.

I'm taking the liberty to post a legal definition of the U.S' interpretation of False Advertising:

"Any advertising or promotion that misrepresents the nature, characteristics, qualities or geographic origin of goods, services or commercial activities" (Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C.A. § 1125(a)).

You'll note the inclusion of the word 'promotion' (bolded for your convenience).

This is because interviews, podcasts, sneak previews, etc. constitute promotion, which falls within the purvey of advertising activities and hype-generation that anyone selling a product propagate in order to garner interest for their product.

So yes, I daresay that Bioware/EA is liable for Casey's lie, and all those others propagated all over the marketplace.

And I think you'll find that most advertising regulatory systems in both the US and Europe will agree with me.
