BioWare: Gamers Prefer a Manly Shepard

I hope the low female Shepard percentage doesn't give Bioware any ideas about taking it out of the game. Very few games offer genuinely strong, female characters, and I'll be really disappointed if I'm forced to play a maleshep in the future.

Also, I got the same ending as Andy Chalk, lol.

I would think the reason behind all the male Shepards is that you can't have a romance with Tali'Zorah otherwise.
If you're female in real life you're probably not interested in that anyway. Although, honestly, the male romance options kind of sucked in ME2. They need more male characters like Alistair in Dragon Age - pretty sure all the girls wet themselves over that guy (myself included).

Well, the reason why I always played male Shepard is that its insanely hard to make the female Shepard look good..

As for me, I fully upgraded my ship, the whole crew loved me (even the surly one in the basement), we all came out of the Big Thrilla in one piece and let's just say I'm probably not on the Illusive Man's Christmas card list anymore. How did you do?
This, with female Shepard, Vanguard. Nuff Zed.

By the game's climax, I couldn't trust Miranda any more. I still had mixed feelings that she got killed, but Jeezum Crow, you sure could have picked a better time to get in the face of the torture victim, *****. The fact that I could win Tali's court over to my side of things and still not convince Miranda to get out of her snit sealed the deal for me.

Male, Vanguard, mostly Paragon (there were a few Renegade conversation actions I just couldn't pass up.) Ship fully enhanced, and I even managed to save my secretary.

I prefer Hale's voice acting. And I'm not saying that to be different. I truly do. It feels....weird playing male Shepard now. It's just not the same :-/

Fully upgraded the ship, lost that amazing Professor on my first finish. Second finish cost me Tali.

I just can't seem to get everyone out alive. I'm still working on that one.
I agree - Hale's voice acting is superior. The male voice acting sounds dry and stiff to put it mildly.

I got my ship fully upgraded, but I did lose the professor the first time through, but got I it right the second time.

Custom face Female Shepard Infiltrator (Stealth Cloak and Sniper Rifle FTW!) Colonist background, Sole Surviver

Enh in Mass Effect one lost Ashley, saved Wrex, romanced Kaiden.

Second game - was Paragon for the most part (I just couldn't resist some of the renegade options.) Released Grunt, completely upgraded the ship, did all the loyalty missions & romanced Garrus <3.

Everyone in my last mission lived except Miranda (good riddance) and The Illusive Man was very upset with me ^_^

That being said, I am really nervous about what the results of this data are going to be. I really hope Bioware still lets us choose the gender of the characters.

I'm sick of playing grizzled dude #45 and I love Fem!Shep. I liked the fact that she was badass and awesome and the fact that she was a woman was mentioned in the game like twice. The rest of the time it wasn't an issue, nothing was "made" of it she was just a woman kicking ass and head butting Krogans like it was nothing unusual.

Some tips:
Step 1: Fully upgrade the ship, have everyone loyal, don't do any missions between the abduction of the crew and the suicide mission.
Step 2: Send Tali in the vent, set Jacob as secondary squad leader. Always leave Jacob as squad leader, throughout suicide mission.
Step 3: Use Samara/Jack as the biotics specialist.
Step 4: Send Mordin with the crew, take non combat specialists with you to fight the baddy.

OT: I tried playing as a female shepard, and it just felt weird. I don't normally have that problem in RPGs.

but what I do find shocking is that only 50 percent of Mass Effect 2 players had fully upgraded their ship by the time the game was over.
I'm willing to bet that this is mostly because the Medi-bay Upgrade is included in this list. The upgrade in question is rather costly and all it does is repair the scarring to your face, which gets worse as you get more Renegade or heals as you get more Paragon.

So assuming the Paragon/Renegade routes are an even 50/50 split, half the players won't need the Medi-bay upgrade, and at least half of those who might buy it, won't buy it because they like seeing the scars getting worse (It's a purely cosmetic effect).

I'm guessing the only thing that bumped it up to 50 percent was people who bought it for some kind of "Fully upgrade your ship" achievement.

I preferred the female Shepard in almost everything, except when she's flirting with Jacob. Christ, she sounds like a horny cougar. She even leans on the table, like she's ready to flash him, and all the while he's like "yes ma'am, no ma'am!". Can you make the poor guy even more uncomfortable?

I am proud that not all mass effect players are renagade guys who don't care...on second thought thanks for the youtube video's to all the "jerk" people who actually went through renagade story, I didn't want to play it, but it was fun to watch. Ya I was a full on Paragon, been playing mass effect since the first one and always get as many people to live as I can (In 2 that was all of them) I still wish there was a way to save Miss marine & Kadin Alenko though...I killed Ash because I loved her...don't ask.

Well, Miranda does look pretty good.
But it's just a bit awkward playing as a woman, because it would be drenched in stereotype.

Got everything for my ship except the medical bay (I have those badass renegade scars), I don't have Tali's loyalty but I do have Jack's and everyone made it through in one piece. I kept the base to use against the reapers...but I gave TIM the middle finger

Why male Shepard? Because you can plow just about any female character

Why only 50% of people fully upgraded their ship?
You remember what a f*ucking stupid minigame you had to slog through for hours to get all the resources?!
I still can't believe that pile of sh*t got past quality control.

I didn't trust the Illusive man so there was no way I would give him the collector base.
I played male shep (jack as romance option) and I uppgraded everything in the ship.
Everyone survived and I had all squad members (including Grunt) with loyalty.

I played male, soldier, paragon. Garrus was certainly a favorite for me second only to Grunt. Love interest was Tali but Miranda and Jack where both on the hook. 100% ship upgrade with a full living squad at the end. Illusive man hates my guts.
