While I'm familiar with the bishoujo line, and while I understand that this is an artist's interpretation of Liara, I do think that her breast are too large for the character, but not necessarily for body type (they do look proportionate to that body type). Otherwise, I would buy this figure if I had the cash.

(I wish video game companies would remember that they have female fans who wouldn't mind being pandered to occasionally, but hey... can't have everything in life...)
Actually video game companies do deliberately pander to heterosexual women, its just that many (possibly most) of them that do are Japanese games, which many of them aren't released in the U.S., unfortunately. See Valkyria Chronicle 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, and I guess Sengoku Basara--I find the last one hard to believe, considering most of the guys faces and chest are kind of or fully covered--do try to pander to that audience. I do wish there was more equal-opportunity pandering without it being so lopsided.

I really don't want anime in my Mass Effect. But I understand that it's just a statue that (hopefully) has nothing to do with my ME gaming.

But if ME4 (or even ME3) exhibits any hint of anime style, I'd definitely be out. I don't need to see Liara with a huge single bead of sweat hanging from her forehead as her mouth opens wildly beyond her jawline.

... am i the only person who finds the appeal of Anime versions of female characters of western properties? seriously, it's ANIME LIARA, SHE'S SUPPOSED BE MORE SEX-APPEAL! God damn, every time someone bashes this statue for being too sexy, i lose a little more of my faith in the rest of the ME fandom. the statue's being made by fucking Kotobukiya, the company known for giant robots and chicks with huge levels of sex-appeal.
Sex appeal that 15 year old boys might find attractive.

A child's head on an American stripper's body ain't what I'd call sexy.

Attractiveness is measured by more than just 'bewwwwbs', and don't get me started on the implications of finding attractive something, that for all intents and purposes, is a child with a boob job.
goddammit, it's like me and my middle-age friend are the only people who like Mass Effect AND understand the difference between "youthful" and "childish" anime faces. Liara stated herself that she's barely an adult by Asari measures, ergo, Kotobukiya put a youthful anime face one her to reflect that.

honestly, you're telling a /girl/ that there's more to sexiness than 'bewwwwbs'? that's like telling a guy there's more to a dick than the testies. i've always been a bit of an ass fan myself.

I've seen plenty of anime characters with humble breasts, so that doesn't work, I've seen bookworms in anime, so, yeah, the fact that the style is anime inspired doesn't explain why this is a failure at all.

It's more the fact that neither her expression, nor her pose, nor her proportions resemble those of the actual Liara at all, instead we're stuck with some other confident, well endowed Asari gunslinger. Boo~

Input? Don't do it.

Seriously, BioWare. WTF is going through your head? You're only making yourself look worse, and losing more and more credibility.

J-RPG elements already infected Dragon Age (Big swords, nubile-big-breasted women and all that), do you really need to tie Mass Effect to Anime.

I know you're afraid of becoming less relevant, what with DA2 not hitting the sales you wanted, but this is only doing more damage.

Rule of thumb: The more you try to pander, the more you look like a sell out.

I don't care much about changing a franchise. But that just seems like a style that doesn't fit the Mass Effect series at all. Besides I think that a lot of western art styles don't usually translate well into anime.

I'd buy it if they made the breasts smaller . . . . Ah who am I kidding, I'll still buy it even they didn't.

Look bioware, you're dealing with science fiction fans here. And they are, admittedly, not historically the most open minded bunch. I take everything with a laugh though and I give some market eccentricities a knowing wink, understanding that their intentions are not harmful so if this sells a few more copies for you guys in japan, more power to you.

I view this as a fail, not so much in sexing up Liara, because bioware did it between ME1 and 2. This is a fail because it bears no resemblance Liara at all.

...When did Liara turn into a double D? I'll find my inner nerd rage in a minute I swear...

ok. In all honesty, Mass Effect's a Western RPG, and Liara's had a consistent model the entire time. There's no reason for the statue to look like this.

This falls into the uncanny valley. It does it in a way that is overt sexualization in a very Japanese way. Infantilized (which just means girly) and drawn to extremes. I didn't know what "bishoujo" meant until today, but I can safely say "WTF Japan".

I'd be fine with it if it was "insert random Asari here"; wouldn't like it, but wouldn't bug me.
But if it's supposed to be Liara... no, just no, looks nothing like Liara.
