They should probably go back to the drawing board on this one, I've been waiting quite a while to see it sinc I first heard of it a few months ago, but the problem for me is the face, it's quite a big problem though, as it just doesn't look and so feel like Liara.

This thread is kind of funny. What you see here is not an accurate cross section of opinions, because those who don't like it are the only ones who are going to post. Those who do just go "ffffffffnice" and walk on.

Anyway, they should do one for Tali, who is already super moe.

Still, maybe have her not doing such a girlish pose. Something more subdued (but still hot) would probably fit a bit better.

EEEKK! What the heck?
For some reason or another, I actually find the face of of that statue slightly creppy. I guess it falls into the uncanny-valley category for me.

Not to mention half the people are making a much bigger deal out of it than it is. "OMG MAS EFFCTS IS RUINED FORVER!!!!1111one" and shit. Its just a dumb statue that 90% of us probably wouldn't be buying even if we liked it.

Learn some perspective people.

Dear Bioware,

Please stop trying so hard with your PR and marketing departments. We get it, you like to interface with the public and get your fans to market the game for you with their rage. But when it's something as asinine as a babyfaced Liara statue that looks horribly disproportionate and frankly bizarre (the cloak lifting up around her rear makes her look like a goddamn Draenei) it smacks of desperation for the limelight and certainly doesn't endear you to me or to your fans.

Sincerely,

GalaxyHitchhikerHotForQuarians

But in all seriousness, the only bad publicity is no publicity. Bioware's asking for "fan input" because they know people will respond with 'WHAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN?!' and 'KILL IT WITH FIRE!', which will generate more delicious viral marketing as people rabble amongst themselves. I think EA have been whispering their dark secrets into Bioware's ear for a bit too long. They might have to go the way of Ol' Yeller, folks.

The bishoujo style doesn't work well for this character, largely because of the more realistic style of the games, as opposed to it being stylized along Japanese lines in it's presentation.

That said, the statue is fine. One thing to remember about Liara is that she's changed through the games. The stance and such doesn't really fit with the Liara from the original "Mass Effect", but as she grew to become more aggressive come "Mass Effect 2" it's more fitting stance wise and so on.

Like it or not Liara is pretty much your typical "action babe" the thing is that she didn't start out that way, she went from bookwork to buttkicker so to speak. To really capture the essence of the character's growth you'd probably need a series of statues from differant periods.

Please tell me this is a joke? BioWare wouldn't release something so tacky and tasteless. Maybe some third-party aiming at the Japanese male-teen market? Ugggh.

I'm not liking it. I mean, I know it's part of the Bishoujo style, but it's just not Liara. Not really anyway. Her eyes are too small, and her T & V are way too emphasized.

It isnt Liara from the games so why bother? Why add huge boobs to a character that had small boobs in the game? Just makes us gamers look like sexist arseholes that wont by something if its boobs are smaller than the characters head. Are you gonna release a Tali figure with huge boobs? Or what about Wrex with massive krogan-boobs (like man boobs ;-)? Its just lame.

Uhh... It looks sexy. not sure what the point of it is, most Bioware fans I know of fancy themselves above sex appeal for the sake of sex appeal.

I'm not gonna buy it, but change the face to resemble Liara, and I might stare at it online from time to time.

So it looks nice and all, but again, not sure what they're trying to accomplish.

I have not played any Mass Effect... I know, I am not a human being.

When I look at this statuette (as it's likely going to be), I see a baby faced alien woman with her breasts pressed together, lips pursed, and gun... at the ready. The target audience is very clearly identified.

AND if this isn't a reprisentation of the character as people know her (and it's sounding that way), then this is horrible. I'd say it's sexy without cause (her body language says she's being alluring), but it sounds like her character is being violated, and is less sexy because of it.

Why does Bioware keep pissing all over their own work?
Holy shit, they're turning into the George Lucas of video games.

Anyway, yeah, I don't really think this was necessary nor even appropriate. Like, at all. But then, it's Bioware's work.

Wouldn't the characters of Dragon Age Origins fit the whole anime aesthetic much better than Mass Effect, anyway?

*runs like hell*

EDIT: The ass-shot. What is it with Japanese cartoons and showing ass-shots of every one of their jailbeat female "leads"?
You have the wrong "NOOOOOO!!!!" there.

;P

And I think it has to do with the fact they haven't got an upcoming release for a new Dragon Age.

Meh. Not bad, but not something I'd pay for. On the other hand a "realistic" statue or bust of some of the ME characters I'd consider buying.
