I know Sexy
I've met Sexy
I like Sexy
Sir, That is not Sexy

Starting from the top: Face is off. It doesn't look like Liara. The chin is too pointy and forehead too large in relation to the rest of her face, namely cheeks.
Secondly her breasts are wrong. Not just big. Size alone is not the issue. They look, misshapen. They only way Liara would get breasts like that would be if she gave up archaeology to pump iron and take steroids.
Thirdly, her hips are too wide, but that is minor.
Lastly her pose is off. She looks too tense, as though she's flinching. There's a reason pin ups are usually done with a relaxed pose and the strut is the fashion industries favoured mode of transport.

It's exactly like all those other Bishoujo statues they've been doing of the super hero babes: the general idea is there but they turn it into a generic anime character instead of sticking to the original visual.

These things really highlight the differences between Japan and the US.

One of the most egregious offenders is the Rogue (X-Men) Bishoujo statue. In the West we like Rogue (before she lost her flying brick powers) because of her free spirit and because she kicks ass. The Japanese turn her into a cute little school girl.

The Black Cat one is also frikkin' horrid.

As for this Liara statue, what's up with the hips, boobs and nose?

That nose!

I think this would surprise me more if I hadn't always seen Liara as the fanboy appeal character (admittedly, I haven't played the Shadowbroker DLC thing, so I don't know how that went down, but it was all she was to me in game one), so making a bishojou style statue just seems like the logical step in the same direction. Which doesn't mean that I like it.

That said, that statue doesn't even look like her, and it certainly doesn't fit her personality, much as I was not a fan of said personality. It would be fine (though still not a good argument to convince people games are mature now) if it was any random asari - if the face was less smushed and horrific -, but it just doesn't match Liara.

Looks fine to me. The difference in shape and facial structure is just the style it's been done in. If they'd copied exactly how she looks in the game, it wouldn't be a Bishoujo version. It would just be a normal version!

I think it looks really nice. I mean, from a craftsmanship point of view and all. And it doesn't matter how far from the character it might stray... it has boobs, it'll sell. While, as a character tribute, I want to throw it against a wall, it does at least LOOK good.

(I wish video game companies would remember that they have female fans who wouldn't mind being pandered to occasionally, but hey... can't have everything in life...)

Oh Bioware. Alien Side Boob. Introducing Yeoman Chambers specifically to "Carry Shepards Luggage". FemShep is now hot(ter). Now Liara is to have

What next? Are you going to even up the gender Scales a bit? GayShep? Release ManShep with his top off?

Doubt it.

And will the plot make sense this time?

Again, doubt it.

I've been playing Mass Effect and very recently met Liara. this statue looks nothing like the character I was just introduced to. I think they should try again with this statue.

My care for this is about [ ] this much, now I see a lot of people complaining but I wonder how many were actually planning to buy such an statue in the first place (if it was to their liking). I think that at least around 70-80% of the people who are complaining wouldn't even be bothered with the statue and wouldn't buy it, if it was to their liking.I, for one, like the statue but I wouldn't buy it because it's not my cup of tea to buy extra game goodies.

Sure it need's some refining and it doesn't really look like most of the asari from ME, but it is an Japanese interpretation of Liara, let me put that in caps INTERPRETATION. The amount of nerdrage over this statue is really a bit over the top, considering that it is just a statue that you can buy yourself. You are not obliged to look at it, it's just an extra video-game related goodie, just move along. There are way more important things to complain about.

P.S: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-big-picture/4092-In-Defense-of-Nostalgia , yes yes he is talking about "nostalgia", but the forms of rage he is talking about are identical to the rage about this statue.

My input would be....

"Bioware. Please quit trying to sell us on Shatneresque ideology of what is sexy, Your Aliens are not sexy, and it doesnt matter how much you tart them up, they still wont be, so no matter how much you need to convince yourselves, please stop trying to convince us otherwise."

That is my personal input to the issue. I respect that It is absolutely a minority opinion, but that is all it is. Certainly we will see even more attempts to make the Asari seem physically attractive. Such is their choice. Just not a choice I would personally approve of.
