The face looks weird to me.

But that's to be expected from a Japanese company trying to do a realistic face instead of an anime one.

... am i the only person who finds the appeal of Anime versions of female characters of western properties? seriously, it's ANIME LIARA, SHE'S SUPPOSED BE MORE SEX-APPEAL! God damn, every time someone bashes this statue for being too sexy, i lose a little more of my faith in the rest of the ME fandom. the statue's being made by fucking Kotobukiya, the company known for giant robots and chicks with huge levels of sex-appeal.
I think you are missing the point. Many people have acknowledged that it's exactly what they said it would be, but the concept itself doesn't fit with the character and the result is terrible. It's like if I were to crap in a bowl. It's a turd, and it's expected that it be a turd. Nobody is going to say "Hey, that's a nice turd"(maybe a doctor, I don't know) because it's a log of crap. Similarly, the statue is well put together and stays true to the concept of whatever style it is, but the style doesn't fit the character and they did something to here face that left her looking like a child.

...Mixed response. One hand, Phwoar! on the other, it is a shame to see an established character get a change like that, to see her overly sexualised when she was already very easy on the eyes to begin with as well as being an intelligent and interesting character already. I suppose I could get used to it (shouldn't take too long) so long as they don't change anything else. No voice change or personality change .

Sex appeal that 15 year old boys might find attractive.

A child's head on an American stripper's body ain't what I'd call sexy.

Attractiveness is measured by more than just 'bewwwwbs', and don't get me started on the implications of finding attractive something, that for all intents and purposes, is a child with a boob job.

This will be an item in Mass Effect 3: Weeaboo Hooker Edition.

Bloody Japanese and their obsession with huge tits.

(Not that all Japanese are obesessed mind you, but it is very apparent in anime.)
Isn't that an Okami avatar? You are the ladt person who should be using words like weeaboo.
I'm a fan of Japanese mythology and folk-lore. Okami is based extensively on these things.

I'm also a fan of God of War, based around Greek mythology, and Assassin's Creed which is set in a myriad of locations, including Jerusalem during the Crusades and Italy during the renaissance.

Don't presume to know me based on an avatar.
You're a fan of Japanese culture and have an avatar with Japanese game character, use word "weeaboo" and ask others not to judge you... yeah hypocrisy it is.

I said Japanese mythology and folklore, not culture.

Please understand what these things mean before you presume to judge others.

It's bad. Really bad.

Face: baby.
Body: oversexed.

That schism alone is enough for me to reject it but on top of that, it's for a character that has an established look already.

No. Just no. Get your Japan out of my Mass Effect. No offense to them but I don't need them sexing up characters by giving them huge cans. I'm just going to pretend this doesn't exist.

Other then the face... not seeing anything wrong. At least not too much.

...
then again, I was never big in mass effect, so I probably dont have the love/obsession needed to get pissed off.

The water balloon tits are an obvious problem, but I see a bigger problem.

WHAT THE HELL DID THEY DO TO HER FACE!?!?

This is basically the same as every PVC statue they've ever made, regardless of the source material. You can never get any male characters, or any decent versions of the females for that matter. If you're lucky, you get a cool robot. This is just how Japanese PVC statues work.

I think people are looking at this the wrong way. Sure it doesn't really look like Liara, but have you seen those boobs?
This sums it up for me. Only downside of this new character model is that I'll have to hold my girlfriend in contempt for not looking like Liara...

See Bioware? That's how you design a character. If their art style was as good as this, I might be more enthusiastic about their lackluster games.

& I thought bioware's pandering to perverts wouldn't extend beyond gratuitous arse & cleavage shots when in conversation with female characters.

Comparing your girlfriend negatively to an anthropomorphic squid suggests that your girlfriend is also a fictional character.

The problem is that this is supposed to be a specific Asari, and while it's a well made statue, it doesn't look like Liara, and more importantly, it doesn't feel like Liara.
That's my feelings on it as well. It's a great likeness of an Asari, but it's a lousy likeness of Liara. For one thing the forehead is too big. Liara did not have such a freakishly large forehead.

I don't think 'enthusiasm' is the word you're looking for.

That art design is one tentacle short of hentai.

No, no.. she is real. Just she doesn't have awesome super powers and moon sized blue breasts. (I'm not sure the latter is a strong selling point though).
