Doesn't Bleszinski know? Spartans never die ;)
They sure die a lot for a group of soldiers that never die, though... Very strange indeed. :p
The practice was that Spartans who died were listed as M.I.A. Just a fun fact about the mythos.

OT: I do not play Gears of War, but I would support this move were it to come to fruition.

They day I see the cheif in a game other than the Halo series, is the day I loose all confidence in 343 Industries to not let the Halo franchise die off completely. Having the Cheif in another series would contadict everything in BOTH series, completly ruining any value the storylines of whatever sieries the Cheif was mixed with, as well as the Halo storyline. Unless you do what Valve did and purposely built the storylines of two games to be able to have crossovers, you CANNOT MAKE A CROSSOVER WORK AND EXPECT TO RETAIN THE PERCENTAGE OF THE CONSUMER INDUSTRY WHO BUY YOUR GAMES FOR THE STORYLINE.

Aside from the fact that crossovers never work, you have to consider that whilst GoW fans wouldn't mind tearing one of the biggest characters in gaming limb from limb, you have to consider that if that happened, the Halo community would be in uproar, and is substantially larger than the GoW community. So I applaud Microsoft for deciding NOT to allow something that would plunge gamers into an armed war in the streets.

Also, you can't put Cheif into GoW, because if Spartans were in that game, even as a small, one pixel cameo, the whole series would change. The Locust would've never been able to get any foothold on the surface, if it were defended by Spartans. ESPECIALLY if one of those Spartans happened to be Sgt. Jhonson. (who actually IS an S-I, by the way).

...they're just missin' in action.
Didn't like 9 of the fuckers die in Halo: Reach? They did.
As a matter of fact, it was five (Jun doesn't die). Plus there are a load of random dead Spartans on the Lone Wolf level, but they're more of an Easter Egg than an actual part of the story.

Completely agree with Bleszinski. And like Mortal Kombat, Gears of War is incredibly shallow and has no appeal to me only because it's filled with so much unnecessary gore.

Also it wouldn't make much sense, as the Chief would most likely destroy Marcus if they were pitted against each other. Anyone who's read the Halo books knows that your typical SPARTAN-II is far more than just a person in a suit.
It's kinda pointless trying to compare two imaginary characters in imaginary universes in one imaginary setting since I can make a new story where Mr.VictoryLadysMan wears planets like testicles, single-handedly destroyed a large alien swarm called the Alien Swarm and then continues on to fight the dark warriors called the dark warriors and wins and say he'll beat the crap out of Master Chief for a snack naked, with puppies.

Now that could of been fun.

Microsoft really...

...grinds my gears sometimes.
Awww yeaaah!

On Topic: Well... I can see where the entire "Not killing one of the biggest icons in gaming" comes from. Chief is loved by thousands upon thousands, and well... cutting him to bacon bits doesn't sound good...

Aw, I lie. The truth is, I'd love to see it and I think Microsoft should let it happen.

If it is Master Chief in COG armor then doesn't it stop being Master Chief and just become a generic cog soldier anyway?

I would buy the game just for that. Sucks that Microsoft is such a prude...

so if crossovers destroy the storyline than how can you allow models from the single player campaign to be used in multiplayer where they die several times each round?
but you are just trolling anyway, right?

Too bad. If theres one thing the U.S. games industry needs to indulge in occasionally, its crossovers.

Halo is played around the world by tons of children, you can't just have a child-role model get all torn up.
Agreed. If he got dismembered, kids might get it in their heads that threatening to skullfuck people is a bad idea.

"Watching Master Chief getting dismembered with a chainsaw probably wouldn't hurt the Halo brand at all, and it'd be totally awesome."

You are 100% right!
Shame on Microsoft for being squeamish!
They aren't squeamish, they're just pussies. M$ doesn't want their precious Chief to look at all not completely and boringly not in pieces...Somebody please bring out the meat grinder, this makes me want to shove ponies into one.
