So Mr B's message was; 'Gears is EDGY man, I mean, look, we wanted to dismember Master Chief in a totally non-symbolic way. Buy Gears 3!'

Cliff Blezinski wants a crossover with the COGs cutting up the Chief with their chain bayonets?
I guess Microsoft....

...never saw that coming.

OT: Aw, shame. I would've loved to see that. Ah well, silly Microsoft. Your loss, it would've made both franchises more awesome, not worse.

So if he's open to crossovers, do you think there's any chance we'll see a Greyson Hunt skin? (Complete with the leash :D )
YESYESYES.
Grayson would fit so well, it'd be like he's....

...just another cog in the machine.

Seriously I don't even like Gears of War or Halo or FPS games in general but that would of get me playing the game.

They day I see the cheif in a game other than the Halo series, is the day I loose all confidence in 343 Industries to not let the Halo franchise die off completely. Having the Cheif in another series would contadict everything in BOTH series, completly ruining any value the storylines of whatever sieries the Cheif was mixed with, as well as the Halo storyline. Unless you do what Valve did and purposely built the storylines of two games to be able to have crossovers, you CANNOT MAKE A CROSSOVER WORK AND EXPECT TO RETAIN THE PERCENTAGE OF THE CONSUMER INDUSTRY WHO BUY YOUR GAMES FOR THE STORYLINE.

Aside from the fact that crossovers never work, you have to consider that whilst GoW fans wouldn't mind tearing one of the biggest characters in gaming limb from limb, you have to consider that if that happened, the Halo community would be in uproar, and is substantially larger than the GoW community. So I applaud Microsoft for deciding NOT to allow something that would plunge gamers into an armed war in the streets.

Also, you can't put Cheif into GoW, because if Spartans were in that game, even as a small, one pixel cameo, the whole series would change. The Locust would've never been able to get any foothold on the surface, if it were defended by Spartans. ESPECIALLY if one of those Spartans happened to be Sgt. Jhonson. (who actually IS an S-I, by the way).
So... Would you argue that having Link, Spawn, and Yoda/Darth Vader in Soul Caliber destroyed all of their franchises? Did Dissidia invalidate every Final Fantasy game it drew characters from? I guess by your logic, Super Smash Bros should have shut down Nintendo by now. That time when Frostmourne popped up in a Wolverine game was nice. And you know what? Having Kratos in the new MK is pretty gorram cool. And this is from a gamer who highly values story in games, to the point where I will stop playing a game with excellent features and mechanics if the story doesn't motivate me to use them.
Having Master Chief appear in Gears, most likely as an unlockable multiplayer skin, might I add, would be fun! I don't think his character and universal context fit with the Gears of War "cut everything to pieces" style of gameplay, I think he would add some color and personality to a franchise that I, personally, am getting a little bored with.
Being blunt, if you thought Cliffy here wanted to work Halo into Gears of War's story, then you are being a bit of an idiot. That would be absurd, and no developer would ever think to do that. But to have him in the game as an aforementioned multiplayer skin, or maybe to find his helmet laying around with a bullet hole through it as an easter egg? That'd be pretty cool.

How the hell can you put chief in a COG outfit? All the Chief IS is a suit. Unless they plan to put his suit in a suit.

Which is just stupid.

Halo is played around the world by tons of children, you can't just have a child-role model get all torn up.
Game probably shouldn't be played by those children since it's rated M but I get what you mean.

This is MK vs DC all over again. DC didn't want to see Superman get his spine ripped out, or Batman cutting someone's head off.

That's actually a pretty good analogy.

Even still, watching Master Chief and Marcus Fenix(?) duke it out would be awesome.

Why can't we have cameos that DON'T involve people being chopped up or being dead? Oh wait... this IS Cliffy B we're talking about... scratch that.

Why the hell not? I was playing these games when I was a kid, and I thought it was hilarious. (skip to the end of the video). And don't tell me Master Chief is any more of a fleshed out character than the doom marine...
Here's another! Skip ahead to about 45 seconds...

And there's also the easter egg in doom 2 with Commander Keen...

Back in the day game companies could have fun with silly shit like that. Now Microsoft won't even touch the idea of having two of their own IP's interact with eachother because it will potentially taint their carefully constructed marketing and advertising. Games are serious business everybody!

Naww, if anything, it'd be the chief beating the crap out of those brainless gits. :p

OT: I can definitely see why Microsoft turned Cliff down, but it might still have been a bit of fun, despite all the massive flame wars it would have caused.
I agree with everything here. Master Chief would whoop ass.

In any case, it'd be huge flame ammunition: "LOLZ, MARCUS TOTALLY PWND MASTER CHIEF! SPARTANZ R SO GAY! LMFAO!!!"

First of all, regarding Soul Caliber and MK, as I said in my last post, games that have no real storyline and are just beat'em up fighting games (Like SC and MK), really can't mess up the storylines of other games. Second, with Smash Bros., it is primarily a multiplayer game like SC and MK, although it DOES have a storyline in it (that must've taken less than an hour to create), and is really just a tolken gesture to Nintendo fanboys who would love nothing more than to see their favorite nintendo characters working together, even if it woul make less sense than combustable lemons. On your point with Frostmorne... I have no idea who he is, so this is just assumption that he's a comic book character like Wolverine and the X-Men are, but usually comic companies like Marvel and D.C. construct their comics so they could easily fit together if they needed to, for example, even though we all know that Gotham and Metropolis are really the same city, since they're different in the comics, they can be fit together that way.

Whilst I am not opposed to having characters from different franchises as unlockable multiplayer skins (multiplayer, as I said, has no storyline), adding a character, even without the idioligy of that character's game, into another game, can ruin it for everyone. Also, assomeone else mentioned, Cheif would not fit in well with the COG, unless Bleszinski had either origionally planned for the redundancy of putting a suit into another suit, or just letting Cheif keep his regular armor. That would be the extent they could do. Anything showing any part of Cheif's skin would cause an uproar in the Halo community, mostly in the form of claiming that since 343 hasn't decided what the Cheif looks like under the armor, Bleszinski shouldn't either.

Your protests have been refuted! NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Indeed. The MC would splatter Marcus all over the universe with a single thought.
