Sure. I'm referring to EA with their cheap C&C title clips(Tiberium, Red Alert 3 etc.). They're not exactly good these days.Timbydude said:Out of curiosity, what company are you referring to? I'm not trying to bait you, I honestly just don't know what you mean.redmarine said:Blizzard's cinematic department should start making it into a full fletched movie. I'm impressed by the quality a gaming such as Blizzard can produce unlike some other company we know too well...
OT: I am now fully inspired to finally play the original Starcraft.
I mean. Play it again. Because. You know. I've definitely tried it. At some point.
I completely agree. I would probably enjoy the movie MORE if it was animation. Blizz could do a lot more interesting and crazy things without actors and human limits. Also, I've never played Starcraft and this even got me pumped. Do I have to have played the first one to understand everything? Or can I just go read Wikipedia. The Rogue Wolf said:THIS is why I don't understand the reasoning behind the upcoming Warcraft movie being live-action. If Blizzard put out a two-hour movie of that quality, people would come from OTHER DIMENSIONS to see it.
But you have Advent Children which people loved, even some that didn't know Final Fantasy VII for what it was ( not many though) I'm on the same wagon as the people who want the WC movie to be CG by Blizz I mean... Just look at the trailer!Keava said:In 2001 there was a full CGI Final Fantasy movie, Spirits Within. It didn't sell well despite it had amazing animation for that time. It actually ruined Square's plans to start their own movie studio. Companies don't want to risk it because the infamous Uncanny Valley effect turns away people in longer projects. 5-10 minutes is fine, but after that you start to notice every unnatural motion of muscles and it gets annoying in the long run for many. The Rogue Wolf said:THIS is why I don't understand the reasoning behind the upcoming Warcraft movie being live-action. Okay, you're obviously not familiar with the legal battles between Blizzard and Games Workshop regarding the Zerg and Tyranids, or the 'ancient' legend that the founders of Blizzard practically handed GW the original Warcraft in a nearly finished form and GW told them to @#$% off so they changed a few things and the rest is history.Odoylerules360 said:So it's gonna be, like, a knock-off of Warhammer 40K?
And it's real-time strategy, so that trailer is essentially meaningless.
The Zerg are one of the three main species and the principal antagonists of the Starcraft series. They've been around since the first game, and that was released in 1997 (and worked on for years in classic Blizzard fashion.)chemicalreaper said:Ah, no see you misunderstood my reference to Toy Story there. "Zerg" sounds like something Buzz Lightyear would fight. I love the Toy Story films (haven't seen the third one yet), and I wouldn't insult them. The Youth Counselor said:Don't insult Toy Story. Pixar's storytelling and dialogue has always been top notch and Oscar worthy. The last movie made me bawl like a baby and for someone with a Despicable Me avatar, you should show respect.chemicalreaper said:Not trying to incur the wrath of Blizzard fanboys but... who wrote that script? George Lucas? It was awful! And the voice-acting wasn't much better. "Zerg, incoming" -- what is this, Toy Story?
But yeah, the dialogue was as campy and cliche as it gets, but it's a trailer and you're just trying to be as dramatic and expository as possible in a limited amount of time. Cue the orchestral music and the special effects and you got viewers with blood pumping who are eager to pre-order.
You just won yourself an internets.Anonymous Overlord said:Maybe if I cryogenically freeze myself I'll be able to get to one of the midnight launch events sooner. - John Funk
listen! Listen to me carefully! You need to be patient! I'm you in the future! You have to be patient and wait Starcraft II to come out, or else you'll wake up in the future and have to deal with a bunch of sea otters!
Well I was thinking more along the lines of the fact that the Terran dominion still exists for some reason.samsonguy920 said:Actually I have a good feeling that Duran makes a quick appearance in the trailer. Look for the pasty faced guy who cloaks in the second half of the trailer. And there has been lots shown in trailers and gameplay that ties in with what was featured in Brood War.Necrofudge said:Strange... It seems like with the new game they completely factored out what happened in Starcraft: Broodwar. Maybe they announced it, but I never noticed until just now.
Blizzard was pretty clear that the Xel'naga themselves won't appear just yet(as was hinted at in Brood War that they are still around), but that does not mean there isn't more to discover about them. Especially when there is more of their tech that appears. One thing I know for sure is Fenix [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenix_(StarCraft)] won't be around. I liked him, and hated what I had to do when playing the Zerg in that expansion.
damn it, now I'm going to have to play again just to find out >.<Necrofudge said:Well I was thinking more along the lines of the fact that the Terran dominion still exists for some reason.samsonguy920 said:Actually I have a good feeling that Duran makes a quick appearance in the trailer. I'm not entirely sure (I haven't played the campaign in years) but I recall the UED (united earth directorate) being the Terran government at the end of the Broodwar campaign with the fourth and fifth mission of the Terran campaign having the player destroy the capital and kill the emperor.
