The bus driver's job is to break up fights and avert conflict in these situations. In a broad sense, he has accomplished that. Good on him for performing his civil duty.
However, he did it by uppercutting one of the participants in the face. Which makes him a badass, but although the participant was the more aggressive and less willing to co-operate, it is unfortunately a terrible thing to do to a person.
As for the sudden gender thing. Perhaps I missed some dialogue, but I don't think the bus driver was sexist for hitting her. She wasn't co-operating, the guy sat down. Also, "I'm a female" isn't a defence against being hit. But it doesn't matter. Because what happened was a real-life shoryuken and that isjust the best thing to ever happen unnecessary violence.
