I gaurentee (sp, im really tired) a boycott if they implement this idea.
Perhaps if their wallets are being hit harder a boycott might actually mean something.

I'm just wondering, if i wanted to say, kill everyone who works at Activision, and ensure that the company gets blown to the ground, and its earth salted so it will never grow again, should I use nukes or should I perform Chemotherapy on the state it currently resigns in.

I'm not sure whether Activision is something that needs to either be destroyed or treated.

I don't think there is a treatment for Kotick's Syndrome.

Okay kids today we are going to learn a very important lesson. The difference between DLC and subscription gameplay.

DLC is great, after I buy my game and beat it a new bit of DLC is great giving it some extra replay value and modifying the original campaign and/or giving me some new multiplayer maps.

Subscription gameplay is okay if it is for a game that is massive and has a lot of content updates. Like WoW. After all WoW is updated almost monthly, and the updates change things on a pretty big scale (I'm looking at you Cataclysm) Monthly subscriptions work for WoW and other MMO's because these games are pretty damned massive and there are thousands of people on one server, meaning shit is costly to maintain.

So I suppose what I am trying to say is FUCK YOU ACTIVISION! I hate the way you drain the life out of all your franchises and are willing to exploit your franchises for a quick buck. I never thought I would see the day but damn it EA actually looks like the good guy now. (Also Blizzard I don't hold anything against you.)

Guess I won't be buying anymore Activision games. I'm not paying for Live AND some stupid subscription for a single game. That's just retarded.

If they do this, expect to see their sales drop by at least half, or possibly no one playing online anymore. Kotick must think gamers are made of money. I save up for weeks to buy a game because I have REAL bills to pay.

I don't think this is a good idea, it works for wow because it has a lot of content. I don't see many people paying more than once for a subscription to an FPS.

call of duty is not the same cash cow that WoW is. i dont want to be put in the same group as those addicts that blindly pay $15 a month to play a game they cant win. if that happens, ill just go play halo.

edit: and if they did that, infinity ward would tell them to go fuck themselves and find a new publisher, or become one. its not like they couldnt. thats what bungies doing.

More proof that Activision is the most evil group of anything ever related together in any form ever anywhere.

Worse than McDonalds.

And so it has finally happened...

Another money making scheme from them. As if the 50 million they pull in monthly from WoW isn't enough already.

To me this is nothing but the beginning of the end. It was bound to happen eventually. (End of me buying anything other than D3 from Activision/Blizzard.)
Actually, that's 150 million, only if you are talking about 10 million active accounts at $15USD a month. now there are 12 million, so add another 30 million dollars a month to that. almost 200 million a month. all I can say is... WoW.
Not entirely correct, though understandable. At last count, Asia (where ~50% of their playerbase is) makes up only <10% of the revenue thanks to A.) different pricing plans B.) sharing through companies like NetEase C.) currency exchange rate / cost of living. So, ~110m a month.

Still hugely profitable, of course.

They better fucking not, we pay for the online anyway (Xbox owners only this applies to) and having to pay two companies for one service, that's bullshit.
You are paying for internet and Live already, so don't you mean paying three companies for one service?
You just doubled my anger. Now if you excuse me I must go and seek therapy.

i no this is so far down the comments noone will see it, but im gonna rant to get it off my chest...

They raised the price of MW2 cause it had so much in it (which it clearly didnt) and have made a fucking fortune off it now...if they do this then they will be making like £100 per sale of CoD, which sold 2mill int he first day...

also, for a game like WoW subscription works, tonnes of content constant updates, huge group thingys to complete. cod is just an average fps, and if anyone is stupid enough to pay of it you dont deserve your money

this is the very last straw of me never getting MW2 or any future CoD unless they do something amazing....like make it cheap...LOL!

What's that, activision? you're encouraging us to pirate you?
Subscriptions actually cut down piracy, since they have to pay even after they pirate the game.
depends on if it's server side or server activated. There's always a way around it if there's any single player involved.

if there's a subscription trend, it's only going to cost companies sales and money because gamers will only allow themselves a certain number of subscription based games.

This is a very bad idea, if call of duty gets wow-like subscription then they will lose many many customers.
And yet they could recoup the losses by retards who will pay for it.

It was said before by a certain group that buying MW2 in the first place was killing PC gaming.

Well, now they have been one-upped by the very same people who they were trashing before the release. MW2 was not killing PC gaming, though it had the nail and hammer well in place, THIS shit is going to kill PC gaming.

Once developers and publishers see that people would AND THE RETARDS DEFINITELY WILL pay (and it will probably a ridiculous amount, mind you) money for crap that should've been in there in the first place, then every game will involve either a monthly subscription for jack-all or extra one-time payments for crap we should've had in the first place.
well if that all happens, i'm pretty sure i can live without call of duty, and DICE will just eat this up and spit it out in faq's saying that they are true to their customers, dice are great =3. BFBC2>MW2

I don't think Activision know what PR is, nor do they know how many Xbox 360 users I've talked to who've said "I'll never pay a subscription for a game, ever" when I bring up MMORPGs.

Seriously, MMORPG-style charging will take to the FPS scene like a spider to water.
