I refuse to pay subscription for games. They implement this and it's surefire way to make sure I never buy from them again.

So selling however many millions of copies on launch day doesn't make for sufficient profits, I take it?

I wonder how Microsoft would take this model, isn't that what gamers think they're getting out of their Gold subscriptions -access to continuous multiplayer support?

I wouldn't call blizzards DLC and all that successful...based on what? The fact it is all they do anymore? I hear Diablo 3 is in the making...10 years for a new Diablo? How many times have the players been promised a new starcraft? Their games are a joke now. WOW was fun and all I admit playing it from both sides to all the end game, but thats what you get END game. PK doesn't do it for me as in time it grows tiresome... griefing someone for no reason other to do it is not a model for a business. EA can't stop clones the exact say 4 titles and is reeling from it, and Blizzard is like George Lucas, they get praised but honestly only did 3 things over and over and over. You made a MMO, a MMO so OLD any pc can run it anymore. You kept it alive and added a few tid bits. But what about a new game? DLC I would only buy if you offered me a total package for it....in other words I am not paying 15 bucks for a single suit of armor. I'd need two dozen more dungeons and alot more quests .... even more so when I am already forking out a monthly fee. Activison don't get sucked into a false pit of success......

It reminds me of Microsofts spitting out buggy OS's every 4 years to slow down hardware and make a nice 1-2 year bug fest to profit on tech support calls costing 30 bucks a pop. You code your own fortune in blue screens.

Hah, why subsribe to Modern Warfare 2's unbalanced, cheap ass online full of kids when you can buy Counterstrike or Battlefield 2 for £10 and get a much better online experience? Oh well, most console gamers still quite happily be over-charged for it like most of do with DLC that PC gamers get for free.
I'm sorry, but are you suggesting that Counter-Strike is less full of assholes and kids than WM2?

Jesus, did you discover the legendary lost server?

This doesn't bother me one bit. Because whenever games hit a shitty dry spot (something that is quite common these years) I just read books.

Some people turn to piracy...I often wonder if game companies are trying to push me towards literacy.

If that comes into effect, I'm not buying Call of Duty anymore.
Ditto, I love MW2, but if I have to pay to play the next game online I'll just play something else. I like the multi-player, but not that much.

No, Activision. No. Fuck off. Fuck right the fuck off. You already made us pay inflated prices for a normal game, as well as taking away party chat on some of my favourite game types. I already pay for Xbox LIVE and will not pay again just to play what I already play for free.

It looks like a devious plan. Take away dedicated servers, the multiplayer sucks. Then they can use their own servers to make good multiplayer, but say we have to charge for it!

I hear a lot of whinging.

Fact of the matter is, 90% of the whingers here will whinge up until the moment they buy the game, pay for their subscription and start playing like they were never angry about Activision screwing them over in the first place.

Kids these days...

According to Tippl, a monetized platform would work, citing DLC and WoW's successful subscription model as evidence. "Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that," he said.
*chokes on the glass of water he was just drinking*

Excuse me, what?! What kind of sane, intelligent person demands to pay up more? Because I find it hard to believe that there are people out there saying "You know, I really wish this game was more expensive."

I'm getting dizzy from all this spin.
