I KNEW it. I effing CALLED this like two years ago. I said "Within the next 10 years, they're going to make a Captain Planet movie."
As someone who actually liked Captain Planet back in the day, I am sort of curious as to what's going to come out of this. I expect it to be an overblown preachy piece of shit without the goofy charm or nostalgia of the original, but hey, maybe I'll be lucky and wrong.

Captcha: Lisa offights... The perfect name for the new Captain Planet villain, a wicked wrestling diva who wants to destroy friendship and plunge the world into war.

It'll be funny seeing Milka no longer being 'of the Soviet Union' and I'm willing to bet that they won't figure out a good way to make 'Heart' be a power actually worth a damn without it becoming a form of Mind Control.
In the later seasons they just had Linka be from Eastern Europe, I believe.

Oh, and hey, no more ads in the god-damn captchas, that's nice.

When will CN realize that they're the freakin' CARTOON Network? Enough with the Live-action bullshittery.
Quoted for the truth and Cn needs to go back to good shows like Dexter's Lab!

On topic, I loved Captain Planet back in the day but this announcement fills me with dread. It cannot end well.

So, wait, they're taking THIS:

...and making an actual movie out of it?

BRILLIANT!

(I wonder if Wheeler will still be a douche?)

If it's gonna be relevant, she's gotta be an MMA fighter.

But yeah, I have to agree with the consensus: if this isn't Ted Turner painted up blue, shouting "CAPTAIN PLANEEEET!" and kicking people in the nuts for 90 minutes, it's going to suck... and it's going to suck hard.

My favorite part about captain planet was the ridiculous things they routinely had to counter. I remember one episode the villians built a pollution machine. It literally just sits there and creates pollution. Why in the hell would anyone waste millions of dollars on something like that?
BP seems to have thought it was a good idea

I would love to see who they are casting as Captain Planet, and if they are going to brig back all the popular actors of the 80's and 90's for the villains. Who could ever forget Jeff Goldblum as Verminous Skum?

1. captain planet sucked
2. most of captains planet environmental info was misinformed or just a lie
3. captain planet sucked
4. didn't they learn yet that live action films of cartoons ALWAYS FAIL?!
5. captain planet sucked.
6. environmental messages died in the 90s because everyone realized it was either full of shit or too inconvenient to even bother with or the fact that some environmental practices were actually WORSE for the environment. (example: recycling paper...look it up)
7. captain planet sucks.

also this is kind of a plot hole i realized in the series, captain planets only weakness is being covered in pollution right? but alot of the times the pollution tends to be something like oil which is carbon and comes naturally from dead life forms....how does that actually hurt him? yes it's toxic but its also a natural substance that comes from plants and animals. the guy should be downing some diesel fuel as an energy drink!

This could be awesomely bad.

Also, I can no longer think captain planet without thinking of Ted Turner from Robot Chicken.

"Save the environment, or I'll F***ing kill you!"
Whenever I hear anything about CapnPlanet the first thing that pops into my head is Ted Turner's (robot chicken) head saying:"Save the environment, or I'll F***ing kill you!"

In fact, I think the only Robot Chicken skit I like more is the collect call from Darth Vader.

rule of thumb involving figuring out if things are going to be douchey from america:

anything from america + how old it is then divide by 100 =

percentage it is going to be shit to everyone outside the U.S.

(99 + 21)/100 =

120% chance of doucheness still...

Seriously though, if you're gonna pick cartoons to revive from that era, then bring back ExoSquad!!! That show had TWICE more educational value than Captian Planet ever did, from things like racism, oppression, some actual military forethought...its depth was certainly moreso worth exploring with a revivification these days. Heck it could still work, with us exploiting our own resources to the point we'll have to start mining planets of our solar system eventually and which poor sods will we have for *that* shitty job?
i do not know much about exosquad, but i would love the job of mining on another planet.
