That's a fucking bad excuse. Small children are stupid, but not that stupid. And even if she was, there is no similarity between the two. The mother is just trying to avoid the fact that she left a bloody gun in the range of a child. She's a terrible parent.

I don't think the girl actually thought it was a Wiimote. I think the mom is just trying to blame someone for her incompetence.

My question is this: why is the Wii even mentioned in this article? Someone left a loaded handgun in reach of a three-year-old girl. That's the story here.

Damn... Seriously who is stupid enough to leave a loaded gun lying around when there is a three year old running around. Poor girl, the mother even had the damn chance to stop her! She was in the same freaking room, how does one NOT notice a 3 year old with a weapon. Also for the mother's quote is total BS in all seriousness. I hope the parents get what they deserve. Also some of the comments from Escapists here make me *facepalm* most notably those about Darwin...

Darwin would have actually been appauled given his humanitarian views. So if you wanted to be accurate, Evolution: 1.

But sadly it doesn't stop your post from being in horribly poor taste.

Surley she couldn't not feel the weight and texture of it. The cold steel against the palm of her hands instead of a plastic coated device...
She was 3.

Three year olds are idiots.

Hence the shooting of oneself.
I don't think it's fair to judge a 3 year old being an idiot, they're just not as intellectually developed at that age.

First of all, may that poor little girl's soul rest in peace and may it enjoy eternity in heaven. Now that I've crossed myself and prayed for her soul, let's get down to buisness. Does this family even have a Wii? And secondly, what was the mom doing this whole time? Why would she leave a loaded gun with the safety lying around where her daughter could get to it. This woman is taking the approach of blaming video games, well video game controllers in this case, for her own negligance. I'm getting sick of hearing this crap

Here's a question... If she thought it was a wii-mote why would she be pointing it at herself and not the TV?
Great point.

First off, Fox news. Secondly, I'd say the girl got what she deserved. I'm a fan of Darwin.
That's just terrible man. That's not even funny. No kid deserves that.

how many kids do you know that shoot themselves with the wiimote? even 3yos know they're supposed to aim it at the TV, not their face.

Oh great another person using video games as a scapegoat to negligence charges. Bravo Fox News, just airing this proves you are bias assholes.

A three-year old probably wouldn't even know what a Wii-mote is anyway. So where's she going with this? Is she just trying to make an excuse for why she let her step-daughter shoot herself, or is she trying to blame Nintendo?

Although I feel sorry for the GIRL, I feel the parents got what they deserved (or at least, I'm hoping they will- there has to be SOMETHING they can be charged with here, possibly criminal negligence?) Stupid bloody Americans with their stupid bloody gun fetishes...
Well I suppose as a stupid bloody american who has a stupid bloody gun-fetish, that it's improper for me to keep my pistol unloaded in my safe, my ammunition in it's box within my ammo can with a padlock on it, one story above the location of the gun. Nah, it's stupid bloody eurotards who need to learn that real gun owners, the smart sensible ones who research their possessions, practice safe use, and keep them locked away when not at the gun range or hunting; are never the ones you see in these dumb ass stories.

Now onto the thread: Having the gun out in the open like that is child endangerment, and both parents should go to jail. Also they're irresponsible for letting a three year old play a video game that uses the gun accessory anyways. It's just them trying to get something else to babysit their children for them like TV is for most other suburban families(farmer families tend to engage their children in their work.)

That girl must have been REALLY dumb if that's the truth. I think that she saw something interesting, had no clue what a gun was, and started playing with it. But not as a Wiimote.
She was three. Most kids are lucky if they can speak coherently by then. Do you really think someone took time to educate her in the difference between toys and guns? I barely knew what guns were when I was three, and I grew up in a warzone.

I really don't want to bust your bubble, but...

Although, it doesn't seem to fit the actual situation. This accident is actually the parent's fault. Why would you leave a loaded gun on a fucking table when a three year old is around?

DAMN I FUCKING WANT THAT!!!!!!!
