I know the humble Basilisk artillery often gets overlooked in the Dawn of War vehicle stable cause of all the supertanks, flying fortresses and demonic spider robots stomping around, but if you can use them right, two or three of the little babies can be just as lethal as a Baneblade and you get them a lot earlier than the big one too.
The game of the Imperial Guard is all about advancing early and then holding the line. And with Earthshaker cannons that can wreck your shit from halfway across the map, you're not even getting anywhere NEAR my line.

Based on name, voice, efficiency (uses of the unit) and personal bias. For me it's the 'Overlord Tank' from C&C: Generals. Despite the game not being so good, this unit is pure win. It has awesome lines, can crush everything and in large enough quantities is basically unstoppable.

So what's your choice? Cast away!
"I. Am. Big."

I'm with you on that. Pile a group of them together, with a mix of speaker towers and gatling cannons, and there's not much that can stand in their way. Tanks and buildings don't stand a chance, infantry are mown down by the gatling cannons, and aircraft don't last very long either. The only real dangers are Aurora bombers or off-map artillery/airstrikes.

The Pirate Battleship from Homeworld 2's Pirate mod.

Massive, Tons of Guns, Nearly Invincible and Frighteningly Fast.

Here are some pictures (Still doesn't do this thing justice though!):

The Kirovs from Red Alert II. "Bombardiers to your stations!" gives me the shivers even now, and when you get a bunch of 'em together with the promotions in place they kick ASS. :D

KIROV AIRSHIP REPORTING!

Right on, that's what I came in here to say too. How can you not love a giant, bomb dropping blimp with a shark mouth painted on it?

The Apocalypse Tank from Red Alert 2 is probably my second choice. Awesome cannons, awesome missile launchers, and awesome lines in the Yuri's Revenge expansion. Sadly, unlike my good friend the Kirov, it didn't make the jump to RA3 without getting a bit gimped. The magnetic harpoon is quite useful, but where's my missile launchers dammit?

That guy was one of the 20 reasons the Necron Lord is the most overpowered DoW unit.

Why is this in off-topic?

Anyway. My absolute favorite might be the Teutonic Knight from Age of Empires 2, if it weren't for the Kadeshi Multi-Beam Frigates, which are absolutely wonderful, both in design and in function.

In a game where a single beam weapon requires an entire frigate, this thing has four on something midway between a frigate and a corvette (the next size down). And it spins when it fires.
I captured a crap ton of those things. I really didn't want to destroy ANY of them because they were so awesome.

I'm not sure what my favorite would be, but from Supreme Commander, there are so many cool experimentals.
Fat Boy and monkeylord are a couple of my favorites. I didn't think the big 'bot units were as cool though. Fat Boy is cheap and has LOOOONG range, monkeylord is pretty flexible and fairly cheap as well.

From Red alert 3 I liked the kirov airships, damn they were sweet.
From SC2 I love the colossus, immortals, zealots. I play protoss... as one could guess. With that combo too, as one could also guess.

This is probably one of the scariest moments of a supreme commander game as you wonder who's base is going up in flames..

Um my favorite unit of all my RTS games has to be the Nobz from DoW 2, a group of hardy and vicious orks that revel in smashing the enemy into raspberry jam with a small selection of chain-axes or hammers..

Either AT-AT's from Stars Wars Galactic Battlegrounds just becuase they're awesome. Or The Chimera's from warcraft III. If you had about 6 of those guys with the corrosive breath upgrade then you could take out a base in five minutes.

Oh and least I forget:
The night elf dryads from Warcraft 3. Anybody who played vs night elves pre Frozen Throne will know what I'm talking about. As much of a troll the rest of NE army was, these bitches took the cake.
Immune to magic, as mobile as any cavalry, powerful ranged attacks that managed to ignore armor bonuses via poison DOT (which you can't dispell or immunize against) and a dispell ability upgrade set on auto-casting. Aside from being a little more frail than equivalent units from other races (which they balance out by being annoyingly cheap), the old cleavage-deers were overpowered as all hell.

And they're 'ready for war' before they even leave the command building.

Mine is the Highlanders from AoE3. If you are British and get a saloon which has Highlanders as one of its random units then it will allow a mercenary heavy deck to steamroller almost anything.
Just like they were on Septimus Prime!

Was that the most recent age of empires? I didn't play it all that much, it wasn't simple enough to be addictive but not enough complexity to hold interest for much time...that's probably not explained very well...

Captcha, WTF? bizzare combinations of non-words and half whited out letters....grrrr

The scarab from halo wars.

See that huge green plasma beam? follow it up. That's a scarab, and building one means your enemy is totally, entirely screwed.

C&C Generals Humvee with 4 Missile Defenders and a Path Finder throw in their new Tow Missile and a Battle Drone and you have a unit that can stomp on just about any other unit

Honestly, the Terminators from Dawn of War. Yeah, the marines are more versatile, but seriously, just try to put an upgraded squad of Terminators down with anything less than a relic unit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Nightbrigner the single most broken unit in the tabletop game?

The UEF mobile factory. Lots of cannons, can move on land or water and can build more units. What more can you want?

I'd have to say the Baneblade from the Dawn of War games. They make playing as the Imperial Guard piss easy. Simply 'Hold The Line' with a network of turrets and garrisoned bunkers until you can get the Mars Pattern Command, then as soon as you build the Baneblade you've basically won by default. Especially if you have another one ready to be built in the queue in case your first one bites the dust, which is usually unlikely.

Otherwise, I have a soft spot for cavalry units in general in Total War. Purely because they allow me to use my favourite tactic, which is to charge the enemy from the rear and rout them in one go. 0r top charge from two sides at once in a pincer movement...
I thought you wrote beyblades at first. which would be weird
