I'm curious about why there was a knife there at all, let alone a rusty one.
look, knives accumulate rust incredibly easily, we take it for granted in the west that all knives are stainless-steel so rust is almost impossible. But a simple steel knife will accumulate rust in a matter of days if not meticulously cleaned and dried.

And knowing surgeons, they would be alarmed at the tiniest amount of rust, i.e. such a small amount you need to careful examine the knife to see any rust. So not exactly caked in a millimetre thick layer of rust, the knife may be at a glance not be described as "rusty"... but there may be just enough rust for bacterial to live inside and then get dislodged deep inside the brain.

Even a minutely small amount of rust would be extremely worrisome to a brain surgeon. Inside the brain oxygen and simple molecules diffuses from the blood but that is it, no white-blood cells leave the blood to fight infection. An infection in the brain will spread and nothing can stop it.

So regardless of exactly how this poor young man ended up with a knife through his brain, even if he remains most of his motor and cognitive functions he is not in the clear yet.

Lets have a round of applause for the good doctors and medics who helped him.

I bet all the 300 comments said this before, and therefore: we all know this will end as TK-ing

People are surprised by this?

(I mean apart from the surviving a knife in the brain, of course)

We're talking about a gaming culture where one guy actually DIED from exhaustion because he played Starcraft for 50+ hours nonstop. These guys take their games seriously.

SAY HERRO TO MY LIL FRIEN!
That's what you get man, counterstrike is serus bidnuss. When you cheat you get a rusty knife to the brain. That should become a law for cheaters in any game.

This is painfully ironic

"Games don't cause violence!"

case and point^
They don't cause violence, and I find your over confident declaration that they do sad.

If they got into a fight over the telephone, and the guy drove to the kids house and stabbed him, would you blame telephones? Or the car he drove? Of course not! People get murdered every day, it was the guy with the knife, not the game, and this sort of ignorant attitude is ridiculous.
Oh, silly me forgot to use my;

[sarcasm]<seriously you couldn't tell without these bad boys>[/sarcasm] tags

Strange that you took me seriously, you might want to get a neurosurgeon to take a look at the part of your brain that detects sarcasm; I think there may be knife stuck in it.
Oh crap! It seems I can't detect your sarcastic tone of voice in text form.

Too bad for me, seems I lack the ability that every other human being on this planet has to actually HEAR YOUR SARCASTIC TONE as I read your text based post.

Ok, which one of these assholes had Commando on? I keep telling them not to do that crap in real life.

On a more serious note, OW! Hope the kids responsible get in deep trouble over this.

well at least the kid respawned...

was that joke a bit to gruel?

seriously though like Stu I am wondering why would you bring a knife to a internet cafe?
its a cafe, there will be food there, food needs preparing, and sometimes cutting..
But chips doesn't need preparing.
Unless they cant open the bag I guess.
ahh never forget the bag.. i've never had chips and sushi, how is it?
xD I mean potato chips.

That's somewhat over-reacting. Shame the hacker stabbed the kid in the head though, I would've preferred it the other way around.

It's still not right to stab someone but come on Karma! Be fair!

Knifing people in the game - Fine
Knifing people in real life - Not Fine
Cheating on Counter-Strike - Not Fine
Not cheating on Counter-Strike - Fine

Both of them did a stupid.

I bet to hell that kid won't be cheating again.

I meant the Asian gaming culture as a whole... and yes, the Starcraft guy was South Korean.
