The amount of people who've read this and don't get the Star Wars references are rather amusing.

Great comic, guys. As much as I enjoyed the jokes, I'm feeling bad now because I've laughed at people who've lost their jobs. Thanks for that. :p

The force is strong with this comic.

So yeah [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103196-LucasArts-Axes-Staff], a bunch of dudes got laid off at Lucas Arts. One of gaming culture's most annoying habits, in my oh so humble opinion, is the inability to separate a giant faceless asshole corporation from the people who work there. As If Joe in accounting is somehow entirely responsible for screwing up the Star Wars prequels or everyone at Activision agreed to the ridiculous 14 dollar price point for map packs for MW2.
Never is this more absurd and insensitive than when a bad developer lets staff go. That's when the various basement dwellers of the internet come to enact justice by making snide comments on the internet about people who are now probably in dire financial straights. When the company involved is Lucas Arts? Well... the jokes just come naturally. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/8119-Critical-Miss-36]

While the Force Unleashed 3 getting canceled was no big deal to me. The series has always and would always have been a poor man's Jedi Outcast. The weird announcement that there are going to be no more 3rd party Star Wars games caught me by surprise especially considering Traveller's Tales' "Lego Star Wars" was a popular success and Bioware's KOTOR was certainly a critical one. This announcement should have essentially read "No more good Star Wars games. Ever."

Unless they get working on a sequel to X_Wing vs Tie Fighter. I could totally get behind that.
Dude, totally agree with you. The force unleashed *was* a poor man's Jedi Outcast. And I got scammed on the DLC. I downloaded the DLC for the game, but couldn't access. Canceling that game is good news to me, but I feel bad for the guys who got fired.

That said, I really like Erin Stout. She is awesome.

I find your lack of faith.. disturbing...

sorry.... :p

Disturbing, indeed.
I'm amazed some people on the internet would stoop so low as to make remarks like that about people having lost their jobs :-/

Also- no more good Star Wars games is a horrifying prospect...

Bioware should be given full license to do as many Star Wars RPG's as they want- surely we're overdue another KOTOR title!

And yes, I'm well aware of The Old Republic, but I'm thinking more in terms of a regular game as opposed to MMO's which I'm not 100% comfortable with....

Although I'm more than open to the idea of a Star Wars MMO :)

Erin likes Stella Artois? Blech :p

EDIT: Oh, lol, I posted that before I even looked at any other comments. I love how more of them are about her taste in beer than the comic itself.

I didn't get it, but seeing that it's Star Wars related, it's easy for me to see why.

I've got a friend who went through this recently, but he worked on Damnation...not the greatest game :\ Got laid off...finally found himself a Lead Artist position in NC. So proud of that guy :)

Just felt like putting something I can relate to see how most of the comments are about star wars references or what good beer is, haha. Great Comics :)

I can tell it's Star Wars, I'm just having a little trouble remembering which one...
The millions of voices quote is from A New Hope when Obi Wan senses that the Death Star blew up Alderaan. The anger leads to hate is from Phantom Menace when Yoda senses Anakin's fear when he's before the Jedi Council.
You're right about the million voices thing, but "Anger leads to hate" doesn't come from TPM any more than "May the Force be with you" does. It's actually from Empire, where Yoda is talking to Luke. I can't believe we hit 3 pages and there wasn't another Star Wars nerd obsessive enough to feel compelled to correct this :p

On topic: The layoffs do suck, as does the fact that there won't be any more games from outside studios. I'm with mr. Carter on the X-wing thing, although if there's anyone that doesn't already know this, X-wing Vs. Tie Fighter did get a sequel called X-Wing Alliance. It's a great game, and worth trying out if you miss the series and haven't played it yet for some reason. I'd also like to see a new Jedi Knight game...

Edit: I was wrong about the quote, I was remembering two similar quotes, one from Empire and one from Jedi, neither one of which was identical. The statement about X-Wing Alliance still stands, though; it's worth a shot from any fan of the series.

Huh...you know I don't remember that... I must correct this. To the DVD rack!
