You don't know how a 4 year old is drawn in animeAT least she isn't drawn to look and act like she is 4 with boobs.
BTW don't check the manga, I did and it was a huge mistake. There's a time-skip, she grows up and they fuck

[Encyclopedia Legendary: Success] Weebs who have experience with more niche and obscure works often develop strong defensive mechanisms to justify their behavior, not unlike junkies with substance dependence problems. Believing that it is society's standards to demand their defense against perceived injustice[Voltion Legendary : Failure] She looks back at you. Time move slowly...
They just failed this check, that's what this whole thread is about
I don't like of those shows, but that's just my shitty tastes. Madoka is pretty good though.Anime generally functions on exploitation cinema rules.... Monogatari and Fate are both pretty good examples of this, as are Madoka Magica and FLCL, but the ultimate instance is, of course, Evangelion.
Of course you have. You grow out of it. I did too, twice. Anime is most often not an original work, but rather it is sourced from best selling young adult fiction, or manga magazines. You're watching things targeted to kids and teenagers, and yes that even includes things like To Love Ru and Monster Musume.-Yes, when the medium was smaller, i didn't have these issues. But I have also grown older and found stuff to be irritating at this point.
Post-modernism rejects meta-narratives. Calling something a meta-narrative is a rejection of that thing. You're calling it fictitious.-why are grand narratives wrong? cultures have meta narratives all the time and it's a matter of decontructing and recontructing over and over until we refine them
Anime appeals to people who do not integrate into society well. I believe this is why anime became what it is now during the crash of the 90s and the hikkokomori phenomenon, and why so many alt-right and lefties have anime avatars.-I find the assertion that autism leads to being an anime fan overly reductive but whatever
Go watch anime movies or j-drama. You'll find them more geared to the general audience.I will acknowledge my thought process is cold in a sense, focused less on my own self enjoyment and more on overall social trends as well as focused on the idea of "tearing everything apart and putting it back together". I still feel though that critical thought and a desire for better will help the medium
Just a quick question. Who was to blame for those specific double standards?Thank you, that's all I wanted.
"Western society" in general. Whoever complains about women in a show not being portrayed as they would like (such as lil already did). Whoever is okay with inept men, but not inept women.Just a quick question. Who was to blame for those specific double standards?
See, the thing with men is when they see a bumbling fool, they don't identify with him, they identify with the people who are laughing at him. But when you're an insecure person that is hypersensitive, you will take any hint of an affront as a personal slight."Western society" in general. Since hollywood hasn't shown Hawkeye beating up a security team made up of women, it's just a hypothetical.
Not just that but when the artist receives more merit than the author just because they drew enough porn that people notices them, well maybe the influence is skewed towards artists who can draw lewdsI withdrew from anime in the early 2000's when I came across 2 realizations.
The first being that the Japanese entertainment industry is every bit as idiosyncratic in a bad way as its American counterpart. They produce a lot of crap, and it's relatively cheap to localize. As a result, we get a lot of the crap that the Land of the Rising Sun throws away. Bobobo or whatever it's called was the big Eureka moment there. God that show was awful.
The second was that I just can't stand weebs. And it was around that same time that Hayao Miyazaki lamented that too many otaku were running the animation industry. As he described it, they're not particularly good artists because they learn from mimicry of other cartoons rather than life and they're not particularly good writers because they don't talk to people enough to understand human behavior. It suddenly clicked with me why I felt the same metaphysical hostility toward weebs and shitty modern anime.
At least we'll always have Cowboy Bebop.
This makes me think you have never seen a Rom Com. Its literally full of bumbling women. And ditzy. And crassSee, the thing with men is when they see a bumbling fool, they don't identify with him, they identify with the people who are laughing at him. It's the individualist vs collectivist mode of thought, and women generally are more collectivist statistically speaking which manifests in this way. Meanwhile men are fine with laughing at other men because it doesn't do anything to them, if anything it helps them shine brighter because they are not like that.
Eh?.... What? Are ya kidding? The personalities of women in romcoms are some of the most diverse. The heck ya talking about? This makes me think you have never seen a Rom Com. Its literally full of bumbling women. And ditzy. And crass
What you are saying is nonsense.
I would posit that it is possible to have never seen a rom com and still know the worst cliches through sheer pop culture osmosis. Unless you count Ant-Man and Wasp (and I only kinda do), I haven't watched a rom com since The Wedding Singer and can still tell you that 99.9999% of them follow the formula of:This makes me think you have never seen a Rom Com. I am not so sure about that on the girls end, for the guys sure, but when you google "popular rom coms" you get things like : Tall girl, The kissing booth, To all the boys I have loved before.. ect ( all of which I have seen when binging on my girly movies) to where they are often awkward girls with athletic, sexy smart guys. I guess it just depends on the target audience for the specific type of Rom Com.I would posit that it is possible to have never seen a rom com and still know the worst cliches through sheer pop culture osmosis. woman(career + image) + man(handsome + penis) - context/wacky misunderstandings = they fuck by the end
I didnt make a list that was diverse, about diversity or even remotely comprehensive... so IDKEh?.... What? Are ya kidding? The personalities of women in romcoms are some of the most diverse. The heck ya talking about?
It can be funny in small doses, but when everyone starts doing it, it's trite and boring. Thank God for characters like Light Yagami, Yoh Asakura, Yusuke Yurameshi (he is book dumb, but street smart), Kenshiro, and Izuku Midorya avoid that entirely and brake up the mold. It's a common trope for shonen protags being irrationally obtuse about certain things. They're not children, they're not handicapped, it's just funny.
Depends on which version of Tenchi you're talking about. First of all, all versions of Tenchi know what sex is, they just don't care. Second, Tenchi (OVA series) implies later on in the manual/expanded universe that he gets all the girls at some point. With Ryoko being the first girl to win. The Tenchi Universe version keeps ambiguous, but it's implied he really has an attraction to Ryoko. Especially in the final movie, Tenchi Forever, which is the end cap for the Universe timeline. The Tokyo version is one that really tries to get away from his harems just wants to be left alone. Tenchi Tokyo has the most attitude, is not as nearly as a door mat or pushover, and can get more mad/annoyed than the other version. It ends as it begins, as Tenchi does not pick a girl in that one, and tried to sequel bait the series that never got one. Tokyo neraly killed the franchise, but really they keep milking the OVAs by now having a 5th one. After the terrible 3rd OVA did everything. You can not go any higher thanTenchi being the linchpin of the universe and three goddessess meddling where they do not belong. Everything afterwards is same old, same old.Remember harem anime like Tenchi Muyo? Here we have a guy who, despite his intentions, keeps attracting all these women. He has no sexual desire for any of them. He is as clueless and as innocent as Uzaki is when it comes to sex.
Totally, though I'd say that's more on the viewer to just not keep watching the same sort of show and pick and choose what they watch with more effort. If you just watch popular or meme-worthy shows you will get this skewed image and I can see that getting tiring but you really really don't have to do that, you can watch all sorts of diverse anime out there.
The idea of Isekai itself is nothing new: going to a new, alternate, or digital world where the protagonist(s) become or are the hero(es) has been done in novels since the 50s. Digimon Season 1 and Digimon Frontier are Iseaki when you get down to it. Not so much 02, but it still counts, and Tamers has the arc where they go in to the digital world, but only for about 10 or so episodes. Then you have the Monster Rancher anime, where Genki gets trapped in his copy of the Monster Rancher game. He's pretty much their until the final episode. For example, I've been watching Magical Knight Rayearth lately, show's incredibly fun and it has like every genre mixed in which can't not satisfy you. Also it's an isekai from like 1995, which I guess goes to the point of isekai not being this recent phenomenon in anime. Highly recommended.
Trigun, Outlaw Star, Samurai Champloo, G Gundam, Big O, Monster, Cutie Honey, Ninja Scroll, Redline, Kill La Kill, Space Dandy. I can go on all day with the good stuff. 90% of everything is shit, you just gotta find what's good or works. Don't let the weebs bother you, I could not give less a shit about them if I tried. Though you do have a point about them running the asylum. At least we'll always have Cowboy Bebop.
Who are you talking to?Have you...tried just watching shows that appeal to you while having a general live and let live attitude toward those that don't?
