I should clarify, since something similar was said before; but I didn't get a chance earlier to respond. It's much easier to recognize someone sooner than later based on their avatar. As oppose to just looking at the kind of stuff they post. At least for me, unless they have a very catchy name that I'll remember sooner than an image. But I usually recognize avatars first. Then a name becomes more familiar overtime as I read the post content of said person.
