Personally I could care less about other people beating a game I play, although the Community Manager's comments were a joke. It really shows an unprofessional attitude to the community.
Blizzard nerfed the boss drop rates so you can't just hop into the final act and farm Diablo for epic loot drops like in D2. Instead, they made it so that your loot drop rates increase after killing the elite mobs, so you have to play through the sections before the boss battle to get decent loot.BoogieManFL said:The first ever Hardcore Inferno Diablo kill, and he drops FUCKING BLUES?!
What? Can you only get gear from the Auction House or blind luck?
That sentence enrages me for reasons I am not entirely clear on.Blizzard Community Manager Micah Whipple initially expressed doubt, tweeting, "People think that was the first HC Inferno clear? Weird. Webcams r 2 legit 2 quit. hay HAY,"

I'm sorry it seems like you've dropped your tinfoil hat.fix-the-spade said:I find it very sad that not only does the Blizzard rep not believe it to begin with, his company is monitoring every player so closely he can just call up a window and look at exactly what the guy's been doing.
That's full on Oceana territory there, what's next, re-writing play logs so only people they (or Activision) like can get major achievements?
Shit like this kind of annoys me. It says right there that there were two players taking on Diablo, then you give all the credit to Kripparrian. He wouldn't have been anywhere close to Diablo without Krippi (who did most of the damage anyway) so I don't understand why he gets no credit. As documented in "Kripp & Krippi vs. Diablo," a player by the name of Kripparrian has become the first person ever to accomplish the feat.
You do realize that what I've bolded is a song quote? Including the 'hey hey' portion of it. Oddly, I found myself listening to that song today... the first time in 15 years.Ickorus said:That sentence enrages me for reasons I am not entirely clear on.Blizzard Community Manager Micah Whipple initially expressed doubt, tweeting, "People think that was the first HC Inferno clear? Probably something to do with the fact he's supposed to be the face of a huge business and he descends into text speech and says 'hay hay' which sounds fucking stupid.

EDIT: And the "gamers are virgins" thing from other gamers? Really? Why is it that the Escapist forums are full of some of the more hateful little spewers on the Internet? Still mostly good people, but the spewers, they really spew.
I really hate to be "that guy", but if there is no accomplishment to tear down...you do it. After all, must be easy if it isn't an accomplishment of some sort.Mumorpuger said:There was no accomplishment to tear down.Mygaffer said:It is not easy to do what they did, why do you feel the need to tear down their accomplishment? And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the biggest obstacle in the gaming industry becoming anything more than what it is today. When even our own community can't look at our achievements and say "Wow, nice job", then how can we expect that anyone is going to? Do you really think that baseball got where it was because everyone said "Psh, so you can his a ball really far, so what?" and then magically a multimillion dollar empire just came out of nowhere?Mumorpuger said:Was there a prize or something involved? The guy(s) worked really hard to accomplish something and succeeded. That's something commendable.TheCaptain said:You're truly a man of wisdom, sir.Mumorpuger said:"Who cares??"
Might be because I'm the least competetive person in the world, but what do these people expect, a pat on the back for being able to play video games really well?
Gaming is something I do in my spare time for my very own enjoyment, and I couldn't care less if I was the first, the last, or anywhere in between person to finish a game. Even if I was more interested in defeating the challenge the game poses (which I barely am, for me it's usually more about story, flow, graphics, voice acting and the like - I like my games at a difficulty level where I die or fail not more than once or twice at the really tough parts), I wouldn't be very interested to compare my own "achievements" with people I don't know.
That said, IF I was more interested in beating the game on any but the lowest available difficulty, and if I indeed succeeded, I wouldn't see the point in putting it on youtube and brag to you guys out there about it.
Then again, If everyone was as much of a grouch as I am, there wouldn't be as much stuff on youtube, right?
