Waiting for this game to be the next source of fraud investigation. You’d think ABK would’ve learned given the shitstorm they’re already in. Going for (not) broke I supppose.
And as always, there will be some loophole they can find in justifying the current state of the game. It happened with every big publishers anc I can’t remember the last time a company got int a legal trouble and lostWaiting for this game to be the next source of fraud investigation. The WoW token was also Blizzard’s way to try and kneecap the (majority) Chinese gold sellers - who not incidentally have made quite the comeback in WoW classic - by just refocusing the real money transfer from a firm of dubious legality and moral intent to one of merely dubious morals but nominally accountable. And in that particular endeavour they have been successful. The wow token has provided an outlet for player driven pay to win. WoW is 100% pay to win because the community demands you have a stupid gear level before inviting you to anything, forcing people to be carried into dungeons in order to get normal invites.
The wow token has allowed people an easy avenue to do this.
The crazy part is that WoW isn't pay to win in principal. But the players have made it that way.
The Diablo 3 real money auction house was their attempt to kneecap those old D2 trading sites as well. It's not the first time they've done it, but sometimes trying to kneecap an outside industry for your own profit leads to worst situations. The WoW token was also Blizzard’s way to try and kneecap the (majority) Chinese gold sellers
Good for you, but unfortuantely other people like to fit in and belong with their playgroups. And if the playgroup has requirements that can be gained only by paying out for them, then people will pay out to join the club. It's basic social manipulation. As for the community, I don’t give a flying fuck what the the borderline psychotic 1% of this game’s player base want from me. They’re not my fucking wife OR my fucking conscience. I’ll play to my level and maybe a bit above it if I can find an accomodating group to stretch my legs with.
Indeed I have. Blizzard is always going to be a company who's game I'll keep an eye on, I have too much history with them to not. However i don't have to give them unearned and unworthy dollars. The only reason i even touched Diablo Immoral is because I could play for free.....well for an hour or so at least.Which to the best of my recollection, you have done. So kudos, you beat them at their own game.
Diablo Immoral, I like that. On the nose but definitely accurate. If it was deliberate well done, if not it’s the best typo I’ve seen in ages. The Diablo 3 real money auction house was their attempt to kneecap those old D2 trading sites as well. Chinese gold sellers were something that most players avoided because it usually just led to your account getting hacked, or other bad situations for your account. The playerbase therefore mitigated that itself and by tokengold buying didn't factor into progression for all.
Now that the token is there, people expect it because now everyone has open and safe access to it. Which leads to a pay-to-play pressure upon everyone. Much the same way mobile game pay to win mobile games also work. It's a crazy powerful mind game that works and generates billions of dollars

All true, but each person has a choice to do or not do so. I always chose no, because it was never worth the money, and most people I knew did not play WoW, or got bored with it after a while. It would be a wonderful world of gaming if the entire playerbase could indeed banish shitty business schemes. Sadly that's not the world we live in now. Oh well, I guess all we can do is call out the bullshit and hope for the best. All true, but each person has a choice to do or not do so. It was on purpose. But I can't take the credit, that's the nickname reddit has been using since launch basically.Diablo Immoral, I like that. On the nose but definitely accurate. If it was deliberate well done, if not it’s the best typo I’ve seen in ages.
Well they ain’t fuckin’ wrong. It was on purpose. But I can't take the credit, that's the nickname reddit has been using since launch basically.
Right on time.
There is a reason Sterling left Destructoid back in the early 2010s. They've pretty much been faltering ever since 2014.Be better Destructoid.
*Self-Destructoid.There is a reason Sterling love Destructoid back in early 2010s. They've pretty much been faltering ever since 2014.
Honestly I wouldn't hold Sterling's opinions on working for anybody with much credit, they don't strike me as a person who does well in a normal working environment in general. Having been a reader of the site for a number of years, there articles are generally just informative and good on that end. And frankly their reviews are usually pretty honest sounding and scored appropriately. There is a reason Sterling love Destructoid back in early 2010s. They're not perfect, but I'm not going to shut them out completely. They had the reasons and it's understandable. I trust them more than I trust the Destructoid, IGN, Giant Bomb, or GameSpot.Honestly I wouldn't hold Sterling's opinions on working for anybody with much credit, they don't strike me as a person who does well in a normal working environment in general.
Not all the time. And frankly their reviews are usually pretty honest sounding and scored appropriately.
No, you just finally started noticing when it was something that was that bad or inexcusable. There's a reason why they went off my trust list years ago. The only professionals I trust are Escapist (most of the time), and Easy Allies. They aren't perfect either. EA had plenty where there either too soft on a game, or too harsh during their GameTrailer days. They cooled off years ago, but an apology or second opinion for some of those games would be nice. But not this time.
Your trust list. The point I was making was that the casual review hunter would see these reviews and if they aren't being honest then they are perpetuating the cycle of shady games to the masses. There's a reason why they went off my trust list years ago.
