I did think that the Nigerian bad guy was a little cliched and hokey but this is stupid.

Almost every country has been portrayed in a bad light. In Ireland your molested or blown up, in Brazil you get kidnapped, in Romania you get eaten by vampires. It's movies get the hell over it. Complaining won't change a damn thing

I'm actually siding with Nigeria here.

I watched the film, loved it, but when I saw the Nigerians I thought "Oh Crap, this isn't going to go down well"

Sheesh how long are they going to have this beetle up their backsides. I wonder why they are thinking we are trying our best to insult them. It's a movie.

Know what?

Nigeria is acutally and finally promoted to a country WORTH enough to be the stage of an international Blockbuster and guess what - It did not cost them a Penny!
Speaking if Pennies - maybe Nigeria just wants a piece of the quickly growing Disrtrict9 Profit Pie.

How many movies do know to take stage in Nigeria that are internationally recognized?
2 or 3? If Any?
How many of you cared about New Zealand before Lord of the Rings? So if anything this Movie can only mean a boost of respect towards Nigeria.

The only real trouble, I see is that somebody needs to explain the notion "SCIENCE FICTION" to them.
And that there is no such things as "Bad Publicity" when it comes to movies.

I did. Nice lamb from New Zealand, though rather more expensive to import than the stuff I can get from Wales.

Bunch of sheep shaggers the lot of 'em though ;)

Wow... if you didn't start off with, "dear Nigeria", I'd swear you were talking about America.
It's actually a joke, i pretty much copied/pasted what i said during the Sony/Nigeria thing, but replaced the writer with District 9 Crew

Well they already got Sony to apologize once already. Might as well go for broke.

I would love to hear what the Nigerian government would have to say if Sony ever produced a disaster movie in which Nigeria gets wiped off the face of the Earth.

I'm with Nigeria on this one.

Why? Well, if this was America complaining, and god knows they love to do that, everyone would sit up and listen. I don't see why Nigeria don't deserve the same.

Can we please stop knocking Nigeria, if this continues that Nigerian millionaire will never send me his 10,000,000,000,000 pounds.

I have helped his lawyers with the fees and I am sure its more reliable than that lottery syndicate I joined last year based in the Ukraine!

Oh and lets face it District Nine is based on how south africa was about twenty years ago and there were Nigerian gangsters sponging off the people in the Black Ghettos. It was also Nigerian prostitutes which caused a massive spread in venereal disease and A.I.D's so let not forget that!

I have to admit I can see why the Nigerian president or whoever is lashing out. I don't know if any of you remember but years ago Eastenders went to Ireland & the country was portrayed as yokels with donkey drawn carts. That caused great offence to a lot of the Irish communities.

I believe in this day & age we do have to be careful about what we say about other countries or cultures & all the people on here who are saying 'Grow up Nigeria' Or 'Sort out your country!' have missed the point that MAYBE this is the start of Nigeria trying to sort itself out.... Either that or their PS3 broke down & they have beef with sony :)

To be honest, I didn't leave the cinema after watching the movie thinking, "I hate the Nigerian Government." I left the cinema thinking, "Damn! What an awesome movie."

If they started off attacking the film then the commercial, I think they'd have a better position in my opinion.
