Hell, even before that DLC Dogmeat was pretty damned hard to kill, which is why the game may have named him Dogmeat, but I call him Krypto.layne said:I bought the GOTY edition and so have never experienced a Dogmeat that can be killed. The first thing I do after visiting Megaton is go pick him up. And, yeah, I've seen him take on Behemoths, Feral Ghoul Reavers, missile launchers, etc. and be just fine.hittite said:There was one time Dogmeat was chewing on the leg of an Enclave Trooper and I hit them both with a mini-nuke. I was searching for pieces of the trooper for the next 5 minutes. Dogmeat had barely a scratch.The_Darkness said:Heck, buying F3's Broken Steel made him essentially invincible by later levels. A convenient bug/oversight made him level up with you so long as you had the DLC installed when you first acquired him. I've seen level 30 Dogmeat take on a Behemoth and win...
If Dogmeat died you could pick a perk that would spawn his puppies. Everytime the dog dies a new puppy is spawned. Endless dog. More health too.Frank Ocampo Gomez said:I originally thought Dogmeat was invincible. He never did clip through the floor in my playthroughs. I, on the other hand, haven't been as fortunate.
I'm with you. I hate them getting in my way as I (usually) go stealthy first. I use companions as pack mules only. Stand them at the beginning of an area. Tell them to "STAY! Good Boy!" And then loot everything and load them down. Then they can follow me back to my base or the nearest vendor. About the only exceptions have been Veronica and Boone in New Vegas. Both can be told to keep their freaking distance. Boone will stay back and spot or snipe, and Ronnie can be set to "aggressive" so she will go agro so I can snipe and stay hidden for easy crits.RealRT said:And I never use companions in Bethesda games beacause all they do is get in the way.Lightknight said:No lie, I've never used a single companion in any Bethesda games for this reason.
Ohh... that would explain it! I was playing GOTY editionThe_Darkness said:Heck, buying F3's Broken Steel made him essentially invincible by later levels. I'd say since the time of Doom. I recall many a tale of players doing "silly things" once they learned the 'idclip' command.Kenjitsuka said:Ever since the noclip cheat in Unreal clipping has been woefully unapreciated. It's clearly there especially for the anecdotal lulz
Dogmeat in all Fallouts was always rather squishy. Fallout 3, he got more durable, but still didn't hold too much. It wasn't until Broken Steel Dogmeat forgot that he was a dog and thought he was a four-legged tank (as he got ungodly amounts of health when YOU leveled up) and added a late-game perk that allowed you to have him respawn with 500 extra health if he died.Frank Ocampo Gomez said:I originally thought Dogmeat was invincible. The only time I actually bothered to give my companions anything was in Skyrim and that was also only the REALLY heavy stuff (Dragonbones and Dragonskin, mostly). Every other game? Meatshields. Or, in case of Boone, a tactical nuke against anything even vaguely Legion-looking.infohippie said:People actually use companions in Bethesda games? As anything more than spare carrying capacity that is?
And if I ever used them then I would know that this is a second reason not to use them .RealRT said:And I never use companions in Bethesda games beacause all they do is get in the way.Lightknight said:No lie, I've never used a single companion in any Bethesda games for this reason.
OH! Do you think we can get our dog in Fallout 4 cyberized?Diablo1099 said:You know, I've played a lot of Fallout 3 (Had to borrow my friends copy tho >.>) and i never once got Dogmeat for this exact reason.Caramel Frappe said:Alright, this is my all time favorite, FAVORITE Critical Miss comic because it's so true it hurts my sides XD
Before anyone asks, I had companions in Skyrim killed not by bandits, giants, werewolves, dragons, or any creature / humanoid ... it was through glitches. I remember having that lost Skyrim Dog (the one you find) follow me around for quite some time. He's usually essential, unable to die unless you attack / kill him so yeah.
Well when I fast traveled to the Throat of the World, apparently my Dog was in midair where Paarthurnax spawns at when you first meet him. Falling from such height instantly killed my dog, such as how Mammoths tend to fall from the sky sometimes for no reason. I was so disappointed in Bethesda, I just deleted my character and told myself never again would I have a Dog companion with me.
So yeah this comic was freaken priceless. Erin's last panel of dialogue was golden cause I can relate LOL.
I just never saw the point in companions until they redid the system in New Vegas so they don't instantly die for no reason.
That and Rex was WAAAAAAAAAAY cooler then Dogmeat and doesn't die to everything nearly as easily!
Cyborgs are always cooler
...ED-E was female? News to meImp Emissary said:OH! Do you think we can get our dog in Fallout 4 cyberized?
That would be awesome.
Also, I doubt they'll kill him off. At most they may have something like they did with ED-E in New Vegas where you had to pick if she died to stop the nuclear launch, or if you aimed it at either the NCR or the Legion.
I shot the Legion. ;p
Well, the way you say ED-E's name kind of determines that really. She/he is actually an it truthfully.Diablo1099 said:...ED-E was female? News to meImp Emissary said:OH! Do you think we can get our dog in Fallout 4 cyberized?

Still, ED-E didn't actually die, it was technically a clone of his that died which the military base in the Divide created.
Ohhhh...Alright, I just spent a lot of time lurking the Fallout Wikia so I kinda had a bit of a freak-out that I might have missed the one design document that defined ED-E's gender or something XDImp Emissary said:Well, the way you say ED-E's name kind of determines that really. The guy from the enclave read it as Eddy, so to him ED-E was a male, but I read it as Eddie (the girl equivalent that you say/read a bit differently), so I thought of ED-E as a female.
Ultimately though, it depends on what you think ED-E is. Not like an Eye-bot is very gendered one way or the other, right? xD
