I can see the headlines now:
Mother blames video game when her teenage son accidentally stabs himself with a concealed blade.

Still pretty cool though.

As someone who just happens to like knives, that is really cool! Now I'm just curious, given the nature of the device, wouldn't its legality depend also on State laws in the U.S., for instance? One could possibly alter the design to fit with the ordinances (i.e. single edge vs double edge) and also the matter of licenses for hidden lethal weapons. The knife laws here are pretty messed up considering how easy it is to possess and be caught with a freaking gun by comparison.
Isn't it kind of like a really big switch blade though. Probably illegal everywhere.

It's a pop spring system. You give the blade a shake to snap it out, and his string pulls a latch to retract the blade. Impressive design.

Actually, some states do allow switchblades, granted there are some additional regulations such as if is concealed, permits, or blade length.

I envy those states because when you go through the laws, they often target one area like a switchblade, yet neglect being able to legally carry a 12 inch hunting knife. I cite this as further evidence that whomever passes these weapons laws should have a mental examination before given any legal standing. Same thing with guns: I could carry a shotgun, but a 2 1/2 inch switchblade is felonious. :p

Plain awesome. I have been wanting to build one actually. To be honest it may be useful as self defense mechanism in Mexico, but since I don't want to get arrested...

Anyways, Maybe I will build this for fun.

Fake. Real assassin's have their finger chopped off.
Herp Derp, this blade is obviously bulging out, making it that, no, it is not possible to cut your finger off by accident
Would you like to put that to the test, it looks quite easy to cut your fingers off.

That said, Halloween is coming and this is one mighty cool assassin accessory - but rather than that finely-honed seven-inch blade, you might want to think about using a comb instead.
A surprisingly awesome idea.

...actually, would it be illegal to make both a hidden fork and a hidden (butter) knife?

Always prepared for surprise meals!
This would be awesome

No offense to the guy in the video as I am sure that he put a lot of effort into that thing, but people who make weapons from video games give us all a really bad name.

how is this illegal, is it because the blade is double edged. as far as I am aware, there is no law in any us state which requires carried blade weapons to be unconcealed. If there is, i'm pretty sure a concealed carry permit would cover it. I do believe that NY state has a law against double edged weapons though, is that it.
also, this is righteous, very cool, if not my style.

Is this incredibly illegal and dangerous? Yes

Will someone find this video and misuse the information imparted from it to do something horrible to one or more people? Probably

Will the media flip out over this if they find it? You bet your ass

Does this do anything to help the image of the average "gamer" at all? Not really

Do any of the above statements diminish from how freakin' cool that thing is? Not even a little

On an unrelated note, there's nothing wrong with owning nifty sharp and pointy objects, just so long as they never leave your home and are for harmless (as in no live targets) demonstration or display purposes only.
