E3: Minecraft Coming to Xbox 360 With Kinect

texture packs, mods, skins, and custom maps are all pretty important to the minecraft experiance...Dunno how that will wok out on the xbox.

Oh and I hoe notch doesnt start making changes to the PC version to accommodate the xbox, that would just be lame.

Now if I happened to get the kinect as a birthday present or something, I can definitely see myself buying and using this often. Seems like it would be loads of fun.

Don't think it's enough to get me to buy kinect on its own though...

Why not? Because Microsoft forbid developers who use their console to release more than one free update or piece of DLC.

That's why TF2 on 360 is so behind, for example.

Final Fantasy XI is released on the Xbox 360, it has massive updates every 3 months which bring in new areas, monsters, spells, level caps etc etc and to top it all off you don't even need a Gold subscription to play it online.

Whoever said Microsoft "forbids" patching/updates was probably lying through his teeth to justify his respective publisher/developer not giving a shit.

Now given that they can't even release a patch on the PC without it fucking up things beyond belief, how the hell are they going to properly develop a game on multiple platforms and still meet that November 11th deadline without things being horribly broken and gimped?

Every new patch fucks things up beyond belief because mods are not officially supported by mojang. IT'S A BETA. Every mod added outright alters the .jar file instead of working as an extended/seperate class entity. I'm sure once the game is in its retail and final state there will be concessions made for mods, but until then don't expect Notch to jump through hoops accomodating every Tom, Dick and Harry who feels like making a mod.

My thoughts too, which is a shame because it's actually pretty good (for an indie game) if you ignore the constant cry of "RIP OFF. I HOPE THESE GUYS GET SUED DURR HURR HURR".
I prefer to think there's room for both games and for minecraft fans on both systems... it won't work out that way unfortunately.
I'm still happy to be able to play it at all, my laptop definitely can't handle it.

You can update games for free on xbox, just look at Burnout Paradise

Developers have to either charge money for their updates or they have to pay loads to update/addn new content to their own game on xbox.

Hence why Team Fortress 2 on xbox is still crap.

No need to try and flame, just using TF2 as an example. Free updateson PC, but nothing on Xbox since Microsoft won't allow it to be free on the xbox.

Well if you can flat out ignore my example i dont see why i cant shit all over yours. Plenty of games have been updated for free on xbox. SSF4, Burnout Paradise, AC:B, Left 4 Dead (thats a valve game so explain that one)

Updated, for bugs and such yes, but no new content for free.

I haven't played Burnout or AC:B on the xbox, but the campaigns and such for L4D2 are not free on xbox, The Sacrefice costs money on the xbox.

All the examples i gave were free CONTENT updates, not just bug fixes etc. Multiplayer maps, missions, modes. Hell Burnout Paradise added motorbikes and a bunch of new stuff, all for free. Sorry but you are just wrong on this one.

Didn't they make you pay for Big Surf Island and things such as offline multiplayer though?

A lot of Add-ons are indeed paid content, i was just showing that you can get free content updates on the 360.

Misunderstood ya then, my apologies.

My point still stands though, it's in Beta and most titles are riddled with bugs in their Beta stages. (or if you're Bethesda, in your retail and later goty stages) Especially such an open end game like Minecraft, no way can anyone foresee every bug. The last major patch from 1.5.4 to 1.6.6 has more or less been one giant bug-fix though

Have you played it, the guy making it wants it to more be creative with PVP. I'm not denying it's similar but I thinks it's more inspired than a rip off, after all isn't Minecraft based off of Dwarf Fortress?
