The way EA news is going, I expect to wake up next Wednesday to learn that EA slipped in the shower and in the ensuing slapstick malady of ill-placed bear-traps, wedding cakes, wet paint, hot surfaces, giant sheets of glass and unprotected bosoms it blew its own head off with a double-barreled shotgun before plummeting thirty stories into a dump truck full of fire ants.

Which I guess is something you can be proud of, in a way.

EA is stupid for making a horror game into co op. Good luck with that.

Seeing how you need to go onto a website, to play bf3 single player, doesnt surprise me.

If they do the same, you'll no longer be able to launch a game with a .exe anymore.

Soon the IP's for The Sims, Command & Conquer, and Battlefield will be sold off to other companies because EA can't afford its own bills anymore. And thus the legacy of gaming exits its dark ages.

On the bright side, this means I have even less incentive to buy Dragon Age 3. I hated the all-but mandatory multiplayer in Mass Effect 3; pushing already unwanted gameplay did nothing to make me like it, and I was so terribly bored with it whenever I played. I don't want it shoved into any more games that don't need it.

If I'm not mistaken, Skyrim, FFXIII, and Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword all sold very well, and none of them have a lick of multiplayer.

If RE5 is anything to go by, you can amend your statement to say "EA is stupid for making a horror game into a non-horror co-op".

Adding co-op removes any shred of anxiety or fear.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Good luck with that. Social gaming's a bubble that's about to burst, and that strategy isn't going to stop EA from continuing to tank horribly.

See you in hell, cockshiners. The gaming industry will not miss you.

I will give credit where credit is due: the multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 is absolutely phenomenal. That said, EA is still stupid for insisting on shoehorning multiplayer into every game. Just because Modern Warfare is a record seller mostly because of its multiplayer doesn't mean that a game is only successful if it has multiplayer.

EA is disgusting... I'm tired of this company that is a damn blight on the industry. Their vapid games can rot on their shelf from now on. Single player experiences are not a periphery to multiplayer... EA is just the most idiotic company working in gaming today, they try to destroy Zynga for their glaring mistakes on one hand, they then try to emulate those same mistakes with the other. It's just mind boggling that they would even think this a good business policy much less say it out loud.

Honestly, does EA get off on being the most arrogant, self righteous, condescending fuckwits on the planet or something.

The unfortunate thing is EA's main money makers are games with multiplayer focus or strong multiplayer components: Battlefield and all the EA Sports games, so a decision like this isn't going to tank the company or anything. Where this hurts the most is that they were able to get their hands into Bioware... no question now on how much independence they actually have.

This site is a hopeless EA-hate-circle jerk. If Valve came out and said the very same thing, everyone here would just happily rake it in. EA pretty much already does this... All of their games have some sort of online feature, and not necessarily multiplayer. Christ, everyone is treating this as if EA just ruined gaming forever.

Yeah, "everyone" would keep saying that, except that fucking army of people, who remember to repeat that comment of yours on every news even tangentially related to either EA, or Valve.
