Got to love all the stereotyping and uncalled for insults getting thrown around by a bunch of self-proclaimed nerds... Especially on forums where threads routinely surface about how shitty everyone's schooldays were due to stereotyping and uncalled for insults. Le sigh.
I'm not an emo, incidentally. I don't care for the look or the music myself, but then again I'm a metalhead so I'm hardly in a position to lecture anyone about style.
Nerds are nothing if not extremely judgmental. Superiority complex and everything. Here on the internet, it doesn't matter how big someone's muscles are, the person with the better brain is the "superior" one. And there's a bit of a hypocrite complex too, as they whinge about being victimized through their entire formative years so they're justified in victimizing other people.
Of course, sometimes people are simply that caustic. There are plenty of people who go "It's the internet, why should I give a damn about what I say?" and then proceed to spout off about anything and everything they don't fancy. And there are the people who are really that way in their normal, every-day life too, and
those are the people I typically try to avoid because they're going to be severely critical of every little thing that isn't exactly to their liking and they're probably difficult to get along with in the first place.
I treat how I post on the internet in a similar way to how I speak in my normal life. I try to avoid being needlessly inflammatory or harsh, because I see no positive side to it. Anybody who is in the group being criticized won't care what the person has to say, because it's the internet and the chances are they're saying it in an extremely stubborn and brash manner.
But then, there are still people who won't tolerate other people because of the color of their skin, or because of their weight. [sarcasm] Why should people tolerate others' styles or video game choices? [/sarcasm]
