Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. "I'm sorry, Professor, but I'm not a gentleman yet!!!"
Just finished this game too, and I felt exactly the same.

Otherwise, the ending of The Amber Spyglass had me depressed for days. I really was expecting a happy ending for Will and Lyra, but sadly it wasn't to be... Damn you, Philip Pullman

The series was so good that now I don't think anything else will live up to it. So now I'm sulking and trying to find something else to watch.
I had that exact same feeling when I finished Azumanga Daioh, His and Her Circumstances, and Lucky Star.

OT: The ending to that movie "M" was pretty depressing.
Showed the parents of the murdered children saying how catching the killer won't bring their kids back.

The ending to futuramas "Jurassic Bark" saddest thing I have ever seen.
Oh god...
My did you have to remind me?

OT: The ending of Pan's labyrinth was kinda sad, although I had very mixed feelings at the end so I'm not 100% on what I felt

I'm going to have to agree with Gurren Lagann. Reminds me of this(SPOILERS and only makes sense if you've seen the series):

Other than that, I was admittedly very saddened by the end of FFX. FFX-2 ruined that, but then again, it was FFX-2.
What series is that? Seriously, tell me please.

My would be the ending to the film Kingpin and Leaving Las Vegas (the one with Nicolas Cage and it is a really depressing film).

MGS4: Just that hopelessness for Snake after everything he did, although I'm still confused as to why Otacon couldn't have just gone through the hallway himself
If you let that little robot thingy get too far away from Snake it starts to lose power.

yes that one was pretty sad, im angry that they never made another episode with the dog... something....

But another that i really felt sad was the ending of the iron giant.... in the end he basicly sacrifices himself for a community and military that wanted him dead....

One that really makes me sad is the end of Conker bad fur day videogame for the n64..... even tough he was a greedy, drunk bastard, in the end he would trade his kingdom for a chance to reunite with berry his girlfriend.... and ofc microsoft refused to make a sequel... instead they prefered to launch the same game but with updated graphics... wich i tought it was a dumb idea....

also could anyone teach me how to do the spoiler thingy? im kinda new and running in the dark here :S

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. A crazy, over-the-top mecha series. I highly recommend it.

True, but he certainly wouldn't lose power at the end of that hallway, especially when Otacon uses it, plus the battery is effecient.

Hm, I only played it once so I'm not up to speed on all the details. So...plot hole I guess?

I can't really name anything but pretty much any sad ending of any kind of thing makes me cry. I'm a sap.

Music videos, games, books, TV shows. And they make me hate said item forever. In fact, I actually like spoilers because they can form my decision about how I will never watch/read/play a certain thing. Ever.

Cold Case for example has a lot of really depressing episodes. They just hurt your heart. And I'm not even talking about the ending--which I don't even think I managed to catch--but yeah. Terrible.

P.S. TitanAtlas, All you need to do is just make these spoiler tags: Anything you write goes inside them and bam, concealed.

Yeah, Plot hole is probably the best excuse, even if Kojima is an awesome writer, everyone makes mistakes...but yeah, MGS4 ending...depressing

The ending to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was like a bad taste in my mouth.
This is so true. Ass Creed Bro Hood has the worst ending to a game ever.

So desmond is 'forced' to kill lucy. Now this would be all well and good if we had to mash the buttons to resist the inevitable but we dont. We have to push the buttons to kill her. We aren't being forced, we are making the choice ourselves. The sudden jolt from playing as desmond to playing as the aliens is so jarring that it kills it. Add to the the rushed, unexplained end of etzios story and you have an utterly terrible ending.

Death Note
Near is killed by Light. only to have L, who is now a shinigami, use his death note and murder Light in an extremely painful way (bursts into flames)
Was that in the manga? I've only watched the anime, where the ending is quite a bit different...

Anyway, here's the most depressing, yet satisfying endings I know:
no that was the joke. I quoted a post about how you can deny everything about and ending to make it happy like have every Gurren Lagann be alive and have families (like the picture i quoted) so I put down two examples of denying the ending and making up something that makes no sense but makes you happy.

The ending to "The Mist" (film, not story). It was the most stupidly depressing ending to a film that I have ever seen.
I thought it was beautifully tragic. THe symbolism and portrayal of wrong vs right actions swayed me into watching it over and over again. And I discovered the musical group "Dead Can Dance".
