Dear ESA,

As a Canadian citizen, I would like to apologize that we the people have the audacity to actually keep our politicians in line (somewhat), rather than letting them bow to corporate pressure.

Thank you.

Seriously though, anyone outside of Canada reading this should know that the reason we don't have a US style DMCA which doesn't work anyways, though they've been pushing hard on our politicians from South of the border, is that any time it comes up we create a huge grass roots backlash. With a 4 party system and a current minority government the bill we've been handed by corporate USA to legislate and have us fall in line has never made it to the floor.

first thing that came to my mind was o Canada actually, and I posted it, in big capital letters.. but hid it in a spoiler to avoid spamming mod wrath.. it was a little spammy, but I meant every single letter.

And yet YOUR intellectual property rights protection and whatever laws border on fascist. I don't speak for all of Canada, but this Canadian would like to give the ESA a double dose of "fuck you". ...eh?

It sure sounds like a bragging kid about someone copycating, with all due right though... probably.

I think you'd have to be brazilian to get the joke.

For instance, I have no fucking idea.

Canada: a den of stinking evil. Cover your nose Boo! We will leave no crevice untouched!
Oh man, that made me WAY more happier then it should have... I actually made the boo squeak in response.

AHH We are heroes.. You and Boo and I... Hamsters and Rangers everywhere, rejoice!
That is impossible; there is no limit to how happy Minsc and Boo should make you.

Canada always teems with evil and decay. Let's give it a good shake and see what falls out!

I'm so tempted to play Baldur's Gate 2 again right now.

Digging the flame-bait, what type are you using? Religious, political or just plain trolling?

OT: Nice job ESA, way to make a country feel good about themselves :/.

There was a bill pending on this matter before Parliament got prorogued in December 2008. Fortunately, that legislation has stayed dead. The Canadian populace doesn't want a regressive american-style copyright scheme; fortunately, the Conservatives appear to be acknowledging that to force such a measure through would damage their minority government.

Everyone downloads up here.... ok maybe not everyone but everyone I am working with. Shit, they use pay sites to guarantee quick download rates and the newest uploads are timely.

America or the ESA is fucking barmy if they think we are going to reverse our privacy rules.

Just because every ISP in the US sold their users privacy down the river, doesnt mean that the Canadian's ISPs ever will.

It the US I was cut off twice for Pirating by my ISP. In Canada I get a phone all telling me I have exceeded my monthly allowance. Which is actually an impressive feat.

The Conservative Government actually tried to pass a DMCA type law, until they prorogued parliament to save their sorry asses. Here's "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" and it's take on this bill and the issue as a whole.
