Why is everyone complaining about the ESRB?

Granted this is stupid, but we need them. Their rating system is a major counter argument against many video game protesters.
Agreed. I'm Brazilian and advocate (not necessarily judicially) in favor of freedom of speech for games. However, here, one of the few ways of impeding game bannings is stating they are already rated according to age (up to 18). It's not paradise, but it certainly beats censorship.

As for the sign made with the two fingers, I thought it wasn't intentional of Valve, but I still understand it is problematic to the British. In that case, either Valve promotes a specific ad for the UK or they change all of it.

I think we already knew that the ESRB were a bunch of morons, this just proves it further. I realize that they are a necessary evil, I just wish they exhibited common sense from time to time.

Also why the ESRB which is a ratings system that only applies in America would possibly care about some obscure British meaning of two raised fingers is beyond me.

I've played and enjoyed L4D, but the logo with the mutilated hand is a bit gross, I agree.

You have to figure that gameplay is one thing, but logos can be seen by anyone so they probably shouldn't themselves contain gore.

Also, the ESRB isn't as bad as people are making it out. They're actually incredibly lax in comparison to what the government would've rolled out.

so....i assume that poster will be part of a box set pre order deal and then a box set that cost twenty dollars more than regular game...but seriously what can the ESRB do about a picture?

Do the ESRB actually pay people for doing shit like this?

Everytime i ehar something new about them it seems to top their last effort to make a new low for human thinking.

Oh ESRB, you cause more problems than you solve.
Best quote I've heard all day. In any sane world, the ESRB would be reined in somewhat, but hopefully that'll happen eventually.

In Britain and Ireland [and who knows where else], the reverse peace-sign is like a middle-finger-lite.
That's probably not why ESRB freaked out. It's because they're overly PC cretins.

Wait, given the fact that the two-fingered salute was used BY the English AGAINST the French, why are the Brits getting all uppity about it? Shouldn't they see it as a culturally positive thing?

If anything I'd expect the French to be the upset ones.

Why does anyone even CARE about the retards at the ESRB? Why aren't we showing THEM the middle finger? They're a completely useless entity. If anything they're a cancerous growth on the gaming world...
Sadly to do have a use.
Are they completly full of the selves? yes.
Are they over powered? yes.

But but aslong as they can keep little 7 year old timmy from buying, tranny zombie hooker F*ck fest. they will have a reason to exist and wont die out...

Remeber, just becuase they suck doesnt mean they dont have a purpose.
