I guess I'm an Extreme Gamer.
What? Most of the week is me doing homework I can't stay up all night Saturday and Sunday playing some l4d2 with my buddies?
Edit: Wait a minute....Lemme do the math for a second.
Okay I'm not an extreme gamer but I'm pretty damn close.

While it isn't every week, right now I've been pretty much gaming nonstop. Does this mean I should get a leather jacket with "four percenter" on the back?
Haha. good reference.. I need to finish that book..

However, this BBC report

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7598467.stm

also says that: "UK workers in full-time jobs put in an average of 41.4 hours every week". When you add in commuting to and from work each day I'd say you easily equal those 48 hours. And that's a job. You know, something depressing, monotonous, and done to survive. I'd say the fact we spend that much of our week slaving away for basic survival is a far more depressing stat than having some leisure time.

If this is true, extreme gamers need some serious help...
To be fair here, how does one hobby compare to another. If they're not playing games, they're out drinking alcohol with friends, working on cars or sitting around watching tv. I don't see how those are any better or worse.

If I had the time, I'd game for all day. But I have work, and school, and homework, and tests, and friends, and a life, and a mother who uses the TV, and a father and brother I converse with.

It leaves little time for digital entertainment.

Ok so i've done the maths on average after I get home from school at four till ten, six hour, weekend say I get up at one till ten 9 hour, 48 hours! But the weekend one can vary, also i've left school so thirteen weeks of gaming, girlfriend and gougeing (I needed another "G") I think Im a bit "Extreme".

Well, during my summer vacation I sometimes play A LOT longer than that. So, I guess I'm not going to go Devil's Advocate at this one.

Christ... I'd be lucky if I could average 48 hours a month. Besides, I'm an Xbox player - 48 hours a week would result in the console imploding every couple of months.

Woah! I think I am in the average group most weeks. Mostly due to me not having a job. Not much else to do then. But 48 hours a week? That is messed up. I could never manage that.
You sir get +50 points of awesome for the absolutely great name, G.R.R.M is made of epic win XD

OT: usually about 10 to 20 hours a week for me but I may end up falling into the extreme group this time. Started another ME2 playthrough on wednesday and I already have 23 hrs of playtime logged. Damn you Bioware! If your games weren't so awesome I could attempt to have a life

I dont know if it is just me but 48 doesnt seem all that extreme. One week I spent upwards of 90 hours playing games, but I think I was on vacation from work that week. I usually average 20-30 a week and more if there is a game I'm getting into or if I have an extra day off or something.

If I didn't waste so much time on the Internet, I could probably find 48 hours a week for gaming. Hell, when I buy a new title and have a week off from work and school, it's not unusual for me to go for 60, but that's not a regular thing (thank the gods!)

That's not really all that high

Mon-Fri up to 5 hours in the evening after full day at university
Sat-Sun up to 10 hours if I'm not doing anything or the weathers terrible (most of the time weather sucks here)

So if I've nothing better to do in a week where at I'm at uni every weekday I'm still just about hitting the "extreme" bandwidth.
