Only 48 hours a week is considered extreme? I must be among the elite in that case.

I usually average about 8 hours a day on weekdays. And then 12+ hours a day on the weekends.

So let's see *insert math equation here* I basically run about 64 hours a week on video games, give or take 12 or 8 hours depending on if I'm expecting company.

pffft! Only 48 hours?

I could easily top that, given the right game. (Danm, I need to get my life back)

well just call me extreme then :)

At least if I had my way, overtime at work, 4 hours commute, evening classes... these things take a toll on gaming time sadly. Still, when I take leave from work I usually game about 12 hours a day.

I've never seen my Steam profile page say I've played more than 70 hours in two weeks.

I guess I'm not EXTREME enough.

Back when I quit my job (abusive boss) and I was playing WoW, I'd easily pour in 12 hours a day, quite often staying up for 32 hours at a time (with showers & food & bio breaks, don't worry). I'd easily clock in over 100 hours per week.

I don't play WoW anymore, it beckoned me back a few months ago, but the whole 'gearscore/epeen' fiasco completely ruined the game for me. I used to love the social aspect, being able to meet new people with common goals (dungeons/raids), and trying to make friends. Now nobody wants to know you unless you have the right gearscore number :(

I am fulfilling other hobbies and probably play games for about 2hrs a week, biding my time till Starcraft II is released. Oh that'll be a fun month. :D

Yes, but what does it mean when you spend more time on the escapist then gaming itself?

Does it make you a Hard-Core Escapee?
That would be me too and I prefer the term "Escape Artist", has a little more style.

these "extreme" gamers are those that have too much free times on their hands and most of that is probably spent playing Cod 6 MW2 and Battlefield bad Company 2
And WoW, I used to play 55 to 70 hours a week just on WoW. Me and all my guild, and all PvP hardcore guys. 48 hours, imagine 4 hours per week day (20 hours) plus 14 hours per weekend day and you got the 48 hours. At the worst of my gaming sickness I used to play 6 hours per weekday (30 hours) + 16 hours per weekend day (32 hours) in average, total of 62 hours. If I had a bank holiday, give more 10 hours and you end up with me stuck 72 hours on the computer, playing, each week.

I already know I'm an extreme gamer but I want to go into this further:

I got a gaming computer for christmas and have been on it every day since so, 415 tf2 hrs + 145 L4D2 hrs + 140 GMOD hrs + 30 JC2 hrs + 4 portal hrs + 8 bioshock hrs + 14 bioshock 2 hrs + 30 GTA IV hrs = 786 gaming hours since christmas, 32.75 a week, 4.7 a day.

Not to mention the amount of time I've spent on the internet.

Well not 2 days in a ROW. Jeez...I spread it out a little. '-'

Edit: Wait sorry, what, people are shocked by this? You must not have gotten to the monotonus 'tune everyone else out' point of life yet. Gaming eats all my spare time, I go to work, sleep. Rinse, lather repeat. Oh and poke my face in here once in a while. And draw... Heck I get loads done and game for easily 48 hours a week, what the hell do you lot do? Socialise?? Ew.

I count obsessive social networking as gaming! You're as bad/worse than we are! Effing phace-book weirdos.

"The average age of gamers increased slightly over last year from 31 years of age in the 2009 study to 32 years in this year's study. Avid PC Gamers and Offline PC Gamers, comprising 11 percent and 8 percent of the gaming population, respectively, are the oldest segments with an average age for both of 42 years."
I'm in that group and only 20 years old!

I wonder if these figures include pirate-gamers?
Most play many pc games for the single player or multiplayer on lan or pirate servers.
