But then again, Obsidian...

I think I'll wait for the reviews and such

It probably is just an achievement/trophy, just worded like that to keep it from spoiling it. Like a secret achievement/trophy or something.

Still, regardless, I'm totally going to try out the Hardcore mode probably on my second playthrough so I know what I'm doing. I have yet to decide whether to get it on PC or PS3, but I'm not much of a modder and I'm always afraid to tinker with my on-the-fritz-brand-new-computer, and the PS3 has delicious trophies, so most likely I'll go with that.
For both Oblivion and Fallout I prefered PS3 (had them on both) simply because its imo more immersive, and to be quite frank stops me from cheating like a little *****.

Definitely keen to try this, on my first playthrough since its unlikely that I'll go through the game twice.

It seems like the kind of thing that most games would just give you a trophy for but if it?s anything like Fallout 3, they?ll probably reward you with some sort of in-game/playable reward. I?m glad that some games are still rewarding players with more than just achievement trophies; for those of us who don?t give a crap about some worthless point system.
I dig the sound of this hardcore mode but I?m not going to use it for the first playthrough. It seems more like the kind of thing I?ll need to spice up my second playthrough. Something to work up to.

Why did you put it in quotation marks? Now it'll be impossible for me not to think of it as a sex minigame.

...Nuka Coffee?

This is the most likely reward.

(yes that is real it was cut from Fallout 3 but maybe just maybe we can finally get our mitts on it)

I'm waiting until my 2nd play through, I want to try and explore the world on my first run through, get some story down, and fuck around, and get used to the HoT shit. My 2nd play through will def. be a hardcore run, that way I know what to expect, know which weapons I'll like best, and also get a handle on melee weapons, since if you have limited ammo room, you have less guns, and more need for a strong melee weapon

I would have listed that as an option if I had one. I do not. Therefore, I'd get it for PS3 of PC.

I wonder what it might be, perhaps an amazing orbital laser? A missile launcher that fires Vault Boys? Anyways, I hope does of us that do a second run through start to finish on Hardcore can at least get the Achievement or the reward.
Once the main fallout quest ends, the game ends. Like in fallout 3. So im pretty sure it's just going to be a 100g Achievement on top of the 50g to complete the game.

If you have the option, go with PC.
All the reviews i've read point to it being a bit higher quality.
IGN gave it something like a 7.5, but then gave the PC version a 9.

Hardcore more does sound great, its just a shame I know I'm gonna get my head kicked in if I go anywhere near it...
Im pretty sure it just makes it harder in terms of, having to eat, drink sleep and watch your ammo a bit more. The difficulty of the enemies still stays the same, if you play on easy, normal, etc. it just adds more elements to the game.

My friend is getting it for PS3, so I'll be able to borrow it from him eventually. I'll get it for PC if I can nab it at a good price, like in the inevitable STEAM holiday sale or something.

I'd love to see them disable the quicksave/load keys too.
That would be more akin to the old Ironman mode from Fallout 2, which disabled all saving except on leaving the game. Upside was double XP but then FO2 didn't have a level cap.
