Why on Earth do we have to choose between broken games and boring games? I'm gonna go with neither.
You'll have one choice thrust upon you by the rest of the gaming public, and it's looking increasingly likely it's the latter.
As long as great AAA games are successful, and right now they generally are, great AAA games will continue being made. Sure, a plague of bland shooters will get coughed out by big corporations looking for easy money but they won't affect my enjoyment of the worthwhile titles. There's still nothing to gain in supporting a company that has repeatedly kicked me in the balls just because they do so while wearing increasingly unusual boots. If it ever gets to the point where I actually have to choose between two different types of bad, I'll get a new hobby.

They've already practically told us that

You're very likely to die again at the end of the campaign, so a different ending is the most likely if you ask me.
The spoiler is this. I think it will be this.

The incentive is just an added bonus for a mode that already sounds great. I'm definitely going to play on hardcore mode, but probably not on my first run, because I always played Fallout 3 on the hardest difficulty anyway, and that's not going to change. I mean, I'm assuming that hardcore mode is separate from the difficulty setting (correct me if I'm wrong) so I think I'd die a hell of a lot on my first playthrough if I had both activated and didn't know where anything was.

Good God, I'm still haunted by memories of trying to take down two Trackers with a Chinese Assault Rifle on maximum difficulty. I think all my weapons degraded and broke. T_T Good times.

It could just be vague wording so they don't have to change the text to reflect whether you'll get a Trophy or an Achievement, depening on what system you'll play it on obviously.

Oh, and they did say you die at the end of the story. So you wouldn't get a special item...'cause you're dead, you know?

Hardcore IS separate from difficulty. You could technically play Hardcore-Easy. At least I heard that from an interview thingy I read with one of the Obsidian people.

.... you quoted my post, but judging by your answer you either didn't read it or you did, then completely ignored what I said in favour else entirely that was running around in your head... I posted what I did, for the reasons that I wrote.. nothing else. Maybe if you read it again the meaning of the actual words will come to you this time.. not a flame, just pointing out that what you read, obviously isn't what I wrote.

....I think you are being overly genererous to Obsidian... they don't merely have a rep for bugs... it also stretches to broken and unfinished... and that's EVERY game they have ever made as Obsidian... or should we do a run down?....

Kotor2.. buggy, broken and unfinished.. CHECK
NWN2.... buggy, broken and unfinished... and let's throw in simply unplayable for most of it's life.. CHECK
The Aliens RPG... scrapped because it was crap.. ok this is paraphrasing what they actually said was that the quality wasn't what they wanted it to be.. which amounts to the same thing... so CHECK (provisionally)
That spy thing of their own they dared to release.. broken, buggy and unfinished.. and unplayable for a LOT of people.. CHECK.

Nope, Obsidian haven't done very well in either making a game worthy of publishing OR garnering player goodwill and that situation is only made worse by them not having to bother about the quality of their products because people like you are unable to say.. "No, we'll buy it when it's ready."..... Hence my comment about gaming being ruined (and it most certainly is) by people who constantly throw good money after bad...unfortunately you are lowering the curve.

I guarantee if you all had a little willpower you could effectively send a message to the industry to clean itself up... but you don't, so it won't.....

I'll never buy Obsidian again... they just don't know how to produce quality.. and it's FAR TOO LATE for them to convince me that they can.

And just to let you know.. I don't have any grudges against these guys.. that's not my reason for posting it, if anything.. I should be the one to forgive them anything as I adored the original Fallouts and Planescape: Torment is my ALL TIME favourite game, I think it is an unrivaled masterpiece, and no games today even come close to it's quality and complexity.

It's just been made abundantly clear that they are no longer up to the task.

It wouldn't be Fallout without tons of bugs.

I'm guessing the reward is a vault-boy costume.

I would have played the game on hardcore either way simply 'cause it's more fun that way. I've played Fallout 3 several times and let me tell you, when you add mods that introduce the same features that are present in hardcore in F:NV the game becomes infinitely more enjoyable.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to Friday! Returning the wasteland is gonna be a blast!

A gun that fires Memes?
A rusty old red and white ball with a yellow electic mouse inside?
Tommy Wiseau as a follower?
Marcellus Wallace's soul?

I hate these "Pulp Fiction briefcase" moments it better be something a bit more fun than just a normal Gun

Hmm, can't wait to find out what this surprise is. I wasn't going to go Hardcore at first initially, but I think I'll do a hardcore playthrough first.

Fantastic. Good to know. Hardcore-Very Hard is going to be a hell of a lot of fun to play. Emphasis on Hell. Can't wait!

I like the Idea of ammo having weight and whatnot, instead of walking around as a mobile armory you have to decide what weapons to go out with that can use the same ammo, putting much more strategy into the decision to go out into the wasteland.

They should just go full out Sims mode. You get depressed and lose weapon accuracy if you don't have sex or masturbate for too long

But! You can inject depo provera to stop the need. However, use it too long and you'll grow a bit of manboobs.

Well, STEAM would probably have achievements with it, but they're not quite the same as trophies for me.

It mainly boils down to the modding as I'm extremely paranoid when downloading crap on my computer. I'm always worried that I'll fuck up my computer even more as there seems to be a new problem every other week with my brand new computer.
True about the trophies. I mean, they're trophies, not just little numbers. Shiny cups!

As for mods, yeah I recognize your paranoia. But with modding, all you can fuck up is the game, not your computer. It's important to get your mods from a trustworthy place though. Luckily there is one, the Fallout 3 Nexus. [http://www.fallout3nexus.com/]

I've used their Oblivion a lot and their Fallout one a bit as well, and it's good stuff they have there.
You know, you're not helping! As I said, most likely I'll get it for PS3, I'd also be able to trade with my friend for his games which always saves on some moolah.

If New Vegas is sold at a huge discount in the inevitable STEAM Halloween/Christmas sale, then I'll probably seize the opportunity and maybe delve into modding. Right now, it's the PS3 version as of this time.

Dammit. If it's a good reward, I'm going to have to brave their masochist-mode.

Interested to see what will happen.

I bet it's a spot in Vault 101 for when the war comes.

Also a bit off topic, should I buy this for the PC or the 360. PC has mods and what not but I don't want to clutter up my system with a bunch of games.

So stimpaks don't heal broken limbs. What does then? Resting and having them magically knit back together overnight?
Well it could be that or you have to go to the doctor.
