Also, does anyone else think the dude in the picture next to the story on the news page looks like Ellis from Left 4 dead 2?

And insulting? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the devs of this game are aware they're catering to a pretty niche audience. It's certainly no call to insult the writer.

I think I'll stick with Harvest Moon for now. I love my Harvest Moon (probably a bit too much). I think I prefer the personal element of it. Watering and harvesting the crops and taking care of the animals myself, along with getting to know the people down in the local village, that's what makes it fun for me.

But apparently some people like this game, so it's awesome for them that they get a new version of the game they love.

For some reason, 2 of my friends and me have farm simulator 2012, gets a bit repetetive because all of the different actions consist of pasting a different texture on the floor with a different tool (not oversimplifing) but then we discoverd mods nothing as fun as fudging up some ones farming fun by driving into his tractor with a lamborgini gallardo (no thats not also a tractor
last time i checked there was a mod for airplanes.

Edit: on a serious note, i do think that it stands miles above games like streetcleaning simulator and it's ilk.

I miss the days where Bus Simulator 2008, Bagger Simulator and Müllabfuhr-Simulator weren't casualized like their newest Farming Simulator... it's all graphics and tall grass nowadays.

Wow. Way to arrogantly dump on a developer, Andy. I mean seriously wtf? You may not take them seriously but they have just as much right to be at Gamescom as any other dev. If this were say maybe an article on Cracked or some other humor site I'd have found it funny, but an insulting bit like this has no business on a news site.

I'm just stunned. I never thought I'd find myself saying this but I've really lost a large amount of respect for this site because of this.

I would normally ask why this of all things made you lose respect for the site, but I honestly kind of agree. Not for the entire site, but definitely Andy.

I was going to say just Andy, but the fact remains somebody gave the thumbs up to post this, and that somebody made the statement that The Escapist feels games like that have no place at a gaming convention by doing so.

That the story remains up long after they've closed for today only reinforces the appearance that this is indeed how they as a company see this game and it's developer. It's simply unjustified treatment of a developer who looks to have done nothing to earn their scorn other than simply showing up at gamescon.

Really? I didn't know Rockstar worked on farming simulators. I guess you do learn something new every day.

OT: I feel like this article could've been worded a bit better. Lines like

for all intents and purposes it is over, folks. Farming Simulator 2013 is in the house, and it's brought a debut trailer with it that will absolutely rock your world.

Never been a big fan of simulator games, though, so good on them for getting more exposure and I hope they get more sales out of it.
