1st Place Lincoln's Repeater- Super plentiful ammo, damage is excellent as well as accuracy.
2nd Place Combat Shotgun- Overall usefullness when fighting multiple enemies at close range.
3rd Place Shishkebab- Seriously, a sword with fire whats not to like.

Is there a way to get the Mezmetron if you missed getting it at the guard? I sort of slaughtered Paradise Falls...

Search Grouse (the first guard at the gate of Paradise Falls) for it. He's the guy that says you can't get in unless you bribe him or bring him slaves.

I bribed him. And his body is gone for some reason.

1. Hunting Rifle, it's a classic and it's been with me for most of my game so far and hasn't steered me wrong yet. Headshotted a raider at fairly close distance and all their limbs exploded. <3 Bloody Mess perk.
2. Combat Shotgun for when multiple enemies get close.
3. Scoped .44, at the moment I don't have nearly enough ammo for it coming in to use it regularly which is a damn shame as I quite like it. Were the ammo slightly more available it might take the top spot over the Hunting Rifle.

The named chinese assault rifle has served me well so far. Abe Lincolns rifle is nuts. Amazing damage and it looks pretty. The combat shotgun is particularly fun when you lure some enemies around a corner, VATS it up real good, and get some tasty headshots at point blank range.

Since it's my first play through I'm focusing on guns mainly and planning on making a melee ninja person for the second play. *can't wait to use the Shishkabob or Deathclaw*

Also, Favorite Weapon would defintly have to be sniper rifle if I ever find ammo for it.

My personal favorite is the Chinese Assault Rifle, it's powerful and the ammunition is plentiful, what more could ya want?

My second favorite is the Sniper Rifle, taking off peoples heads from a distance has never been so satisfying, and I can get all the ammo I need for it in stores.

Only disadvantage it has that keep it from being my primary favorite is that it's condition drops by about about ten percent with every two mags that I use, and sense the rifle itself is rare, that means I have to pay for both it's repairs and the ammo just so I can use it.

The extracted file has to be placed in the Fallout3 Data folder, and can be (de)activated in the "Data Files" menu in the launcher.(that is, if it's the same as Oblivion/Morrowind and those mod files)

Surprised no one has mentioned the Power Fist. That is very enjoyable, especially if you catch a Raider up close. Ooh, the gory goodness.

As for a ranged weapon, I'm partial to the Hunting and/or Sniper Rifle.

Have you found "Fisto!"? I think it's the best unarmed weapon in the game.

I would, but I play Fallout 3 on the 360 due to my computer falling miles short of the requirements, so no such luck for me.

Urgh, well that sucks. Reload the last save before you annihilated Paradise Falls?

The railroad launcher gun thingy. Almost every shot cripples the enemy limb/face/torso. It took me forever to find the schematics, so by the time I built one I had over 1,000 ammo.

Absolutely. Alien Blaster is amazing. For bonus fun, try giving it to the Brotherhood Outcasts at Fort Independence. (Just make sure to save beforehand if you actually want to hang on to it.)

The 10mm SMG... I loved the design of it in the original fallouts and they rendered it PERFECTLY in 3d. Needless to say, Sydney had to part with her life for her "Ultra" version.

All the energy weapons, though it would have been nice to see a greater variety.

Beyond that, Powerfist, Shishkebab and 'schematic' weapons.

Sydney will give you the ultra if you bring her a tape from her father, and she becomes the best ammo vender in the game.
