It's good that the best Final Fantasy ever is coming to the PSN.

I'm so glad it doesn't have any flaws. The only flaw it could possibly have had was if they added a boss after Kuja that made absolutely no sense in the context of the story. It's so great that they never did that and if they did I'm sure I blocked it out of my memory.
I would also liked faster battles. Even though, I augmented the battle speed, it was pretty slow.

Never understood why some people hate 9. It's got to be one of my all time favorite games.
I couldn't agree more. I just can't understand why so many people hate it.

Hmm, I think I still have my original copy laying around here.

Supposedly FF9 was developed as a spin-off and then got promoted to a main series title later on. It's not that it's a bad game, but it is rather bland. It has plenty of flaws.

-The battle system is too slow, and the enemies receive about twice as many turns as the player. Having both healers in your party is practically mandatory.

-Very slim customization options, meaning no matter how much you like Freya she won't ever be useful.

-The ATE system is clumsy and unnecessary leading to incredibly long boring stretches where very little of interest happens.

-Bad villains, stupid main plot (merge Gaia and Terra with the monkey people WTF?), ass-pull end boss.

-CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK

On the plus side, it does have Stiltzkin the Moogle and Beatrix.

Other than Tactics, it's the best FF. Better than 3 (6). Better than 7. Not as good as Tactics but better than Tactics Advance.

Too bad I have the disks for it.

I've still got my oringal copy lying around somewhere, but this is good news should the discs ever become un-readable or if my PS2 ever dies.

Aeris v Garnet. Garnet wins hands down. At least Garnet wasn't stupid enough to get done in by a madman with a oedipus complex.

And on Topic, Yay, can't wait to lay my hands on this little gem. =D

FFIX is the first FF I ever played. Seen it at a friend's house many years ago and then borrowed it (That's when I got into PS1 emulation as well) and played the hell out of it. I didn't have much experience with JRPGs at that point so all the mechanics were new and I loved the game. The gameplay was fun, combat was cool to watch, characters were interesting, the cutscenes were epic, etc.

Later I tried FFVIII and discovered a steaming pile of poorly designed mechanics, atrocious story and retarded characters with all the charm of a pet rock. I gave up roughly at the point where all the major characters discover they just happen to be from the same orphanage. FFVII didn't fare much better and I gave up roughly 1 hour in because the game hurt my eyes. It is without a doubt one of the ugliest things I ever laid my eyes on.

Didn't play another FF game until I got into SNES emulation and went through FFVI.

I'm still waiting for either a stable PS2 emulator or some spare cash to buy a used PS2 so I can play the newer ones...

I still have my original disks so while I won't be buying it, I would encourage anyone who likes JRPGs to buy it.

that is pretty cool, makes me wish i had a ps3, 9 was my favorite of all the PS FF, and 7 is fun, but way overrated.

If they rerelease it at all it would have to be a redone full PS3 game like the God of War collection. With PS2 backward compatibility gone now, most PS3s wouldn't be able to run a straight release.

I'd rather they gave FFXII that attention though, because it's unplayably ugly on the PS3. Something about it just doesn't go with the upscaler, leaving it a jaggedy mess.

Aaahh, Final Fantasy 9 :) the first FF I finished (I played FF8 before that, but I guess I was too young back then because it took me 6 days to stalk the world map and find the fire cave with Ifrit, I was 6 back then, and my english was ... mehh...)

This is how happy I am:

Man, I've had this game on my mind for a while now. Ever since FF13 came out, I've been having FF9 withdrawals.

Aeris wannabe Princess Garnet.
Um...No...No way in hell she's a Aeris wannabe. She's not even close to her.
Garnet is BETTER than Aeris.

OT: Amazing. I still have my FF9 discs.

PLAY THIS, PS3 OWNERS! PLAY IT!
Second but not if you have a case of depression.

The story is such a downer. Every time it looks good for your troupe, bamn, something extremely bad happens.

Your home city is getting beaten to shit, so you climb to the top of the castle. Suddenly, the whole city turns into an Eidolon and protects itself. Things are looking good at that point.

Then, the invincible (I think that's what it was called) comes and kills the Eidolon... yeah.

They need to re release the PSX version of chrono trigger if they havent already.
The PSX had a package called Final Fantasy: Chronicles which came bundled with Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV. Honestly, though, the load times are probably the most brutal I've ever experienced. Each room alone takes, sometimes, up to 10 seconds to load. One of the big advantages to the cartridge. On the other hand you do get some really nice Akira Toriyama cinematics every once in a while.
