I get that Final Fantasy VII was a monumental RPG, especially due to all the cursing, but a forty-year development time is wacky beans.
Thank you for adding the term "wacky beans" into my vocabulary. I will proceed to use it extensively.

It wouldn't take 40 years, not a single chance. With maps, scripts, character designs, minigames and other hoo-hah already fully established, all you need to remake it is to give it an graphics upgrade, revamp the soundtrack, add voices and a spiffy gameplay improvement or two. All in all, with a full development team and financial backing (and you know Square-Enix can provide both easily), it'd take two years tops.

I think he's just pissed at having to keep repeating himself. I would be, too.

i would be happy with them doing somthing new

but if they did to a ff7 remake i dont care if its as good as ff13 or not i would be happy with ff10-12 lvl

but yes i think they want this question to die more than anything else i mean ff7 was on 4 cds on a blue ray dvd it could probly fit on 1 so its not like its that big of a game to make cept for the graphic lvl s of course

i loved ff7 i really really really did how ever that game is along time in the past now i play it just for the joy of it

if they remake it or not i will still play my old one i would likely play the new one to

So why not make it a community thing? Let people create the assets and models and they can program the thing, hire actors and polish it up.

Fans have made good remakes in the past. Look at the Oblivion hi-res mod or Half-Life: Black Mesa, which is in the works.

I'm playing FFVII for the first time just now and I constantly think this thing needs a remake! With way more save points.

save points are for the weak ;) and the new ofcourse i hardly need them anymore

Dear Square Enix,

Stop pulling everyone's dick, say you don't want to make Final Fantasy 7 again already, and fucking move on.

Love,

Everyone in the entire world.

They should let the poor game live in dignity. It's already had a prequel, sequel, movie, anime movie, mobile phone game and a lot of the characters in other games.
A remake would be interesting, but I'm sick of hearing about it.

Just say "Nah, we don't feel like it." At least that would make sense.

They made that up just to hush the fantards, the hypocrites.

I'm willing to swear on my honor that an FF7 remake would take max 3-4 years considering they already have everything they need. Hell they even have that intro demo already.

Give me a final fantasy IX remake anyday. I never got the whole deal about Final Fantasy VII to be honest.
But on topic, I don't understand why it would take so long to develop and make.

..40 years? For a remake of a game already constructed? What a load of crock, indeed.

Probably wants to just stop the questions on it, I'm presuming.

I don't see why people are so desperate for a remake of Final Fantasy 7, there are quite a few other games I'd prefer a remake of. Also, I think it would be better if Square Enix came out and said they don't want to make a remake rather than giving all these ludicrous figures...

yeah, anyone that wants the game even made just wants a next gen graphics version of it. We (yeah I'm included in this) don't want anything changed about it aside from that. The only way we want it like FF13 is graphically, nothing else! 13 sucked!

I think a lot of the issue comes from the voice acting, they already have (most of) the voice actors cast, so they would need to get them all together, they would have to keep all of the conversation branches that were in the original and provide the same if not more flexibility in where you can go and when, this also includes making sure someone does not say the wrong thing (out of timeline)

I think the time estimation was WAAAY too big but I can still see how the time and effort required my ba prohibitive at this stage.

also I dont think they really want to have to do this so I call shennanigans.

I completely agree. It makes little to no sense... they could even use the same battle system, tweak it and tweak it a little.

They seem to be obsessed with super-realistic graphics and how long FF13 took to make...

I recently finished FFVII and loved it. Before, I hadn't played many games with that much content in it. I was suprised mostly because it was a 13 year old game and was way cooler than anything else i've played. I also really liked the art, the music and yes, even the spelling mistakes.
It felt like a rare gem i almost missed out on because I was only 5 when it came out. I don't care if anyone else feels 'the art hasn't aged well' or stuff liked that, I thought it was great and that's that.
The additional games are great too - playing out Zack's story and see it all come together. It was cool to see aerith and cloud in cg. I'll just say now that Advent Children bites for me, mostly because the character designs were too generically asiany looking. and well, cloud stopped thinking he was badass.

A remake isn't what I need. They've indulged fans with spinoffs and made a couple of bucks on the side. The story's over, don't add any more. I'm not judging anyone who really wants a remake, but it'll be a lot easier to have my adittude on in.
