seriously Square Enix, why not, as opposed to repeating the mistake you made with FFX, just remake FF7; trust me, more people will buy this.

including me.
FF7 can't be remade anymore. They will remove anything that made this game good by removing the mature contents. That includes Cloudette.
And why would they do that?
You must've missed quoting my Cloud will be Emo and Grimdark, but just in case the question is intended for this:

Square Enix will try EVERYTHING to make a game as Rated T(inb4 T=Terrible jokes)as possible.

They're also bound to remove or censor:
-Briggs and Wedge dying
-Gambling(Sayonara, chocobo race)
-Aerith's unfortunate death
-Guns

I haven't played FF7 past BarretVs the other guy, but I already read in another site a huge list of which contents they're bound remove just for Rated T
OK and why do they want it to be rated T? Plenty of their recent games weren?t so why would they go out of their way to makes sure this one is?
Because they want it to sell to many people. Sure, it's going to be alright with the FANS of the game; they'll lap it all up. What the real problem is, they'll butcher it by trying to marketing it to broader audience . The way I see it, it has lots of downs: first is the rated T. It will affect the story line and the fun or the tragic part of the game. Second, it'll attract a lot of people getting the wrong idea of the plot. If it's nothing major, then I don't mind eating my words, but if there's another stupid retcon like that Accent Core (I seem to remember Zack dying in that power plant, not some other place) it's going to ruin a lot of things for the fan.

Valkyria Chronicles got a T.

Plenty of death and guns there. No gambling, but is chocobo racing really gambling?

[sub]On the other hand, they did give SMT: Nocturne an M. "Intense violence"? What?[/sub]

Please, for the love of god, don't defend a feature in a game thats unanimously acknowledged as a terrible flaw.

the fact that the gameplay of FF13-2 is SIMILAR to the first is why people will hate it. SE confirmed the auto-battle option is back (ergo, the "press A, win game" mode), clearly understanding that the battle system is STILL too automatic, but their too lazy to fix it.

also, this proves that SE is pretty much indifferent to the Final Fantasy MAIN series by now; why? because:

They haven't remade FF7, an OBVIOUS cash-in that everyone and their cat would buy.
They are making FF Versus 13 similar to Kingdom Hearts (which was AWSOME).
They released the Dissidia games, which weren't completely automatic.
And Kingdom Hearts BBS wasn't automatic.

However, if YOU want to enjoy the game, then so be it. you've stated your opinion, DON'T attack everyone else because they don't like an obviously terrible flaw (repitition for effect).
I'm going to have to assume by your rampant FF7 fanboyism, that like most Westerners, you've only played Final Fantasy VII and don't care for the rest because "it's not Final Fantasy VII!!!111one!!111"..

Auto-battle is pretty much exactly like "Pressing Attack" in the previous games. What the fuck is so bad about that now, hm? FFVII had "Attack", "Magic", "Item".. All the usual JRPG battle traits. You don't HAVE to use Auto-battle at all, ever. You can easily select your own attacks. But the choice is THERE. Simply removing it would then anger others who DID use it often/regularly/sometimes. Hell, there's an option in the settings to have the cursor automatically point to Auto OR Abilities. You can completely disregard Auto-battle even existing. So, your argument itself is flawed.

Actually, a lot of your argument is flawed. Saying "SE is indifferent to the Final Fantasy MAIN series now" either shows you're an incredibly butthurt FFVII fanboy or you just can't tolerate there being spin-offs that people WILL enjoy, whether you like it or not.

I likes me some Final Fantasy, but I don't exactly want Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time or Ring of Fates.. I didn't really care for FFVIII that much.. But it exists and people enjoy it. They aren't WRONG. They just like playing it, whereas I prefer to play a different game.

Please grow up..
That's a pretty plausible claim. However, keep in mind I only mentioned FF7 once in my argument. Also I like to tell you I prefer Kingdom Hearts to Final Fantasy; and Mega Man to KH, but that's not the point. as well, I CAPS the word "main" for a reason. every other game that SE made in recent years that were only indirectly connected to FF was pretty rocking.

And you don't have to explain how Auto-battle works to me, I really could care less about anything related to FF13; the issue was that SE put said mode into the sequel as a way to say "we know the battle system is STILL too automatic, so we'll keep it that way". people are complaining about the battle system being terrible in FF13-2 BECAUSE its going down the same path as its predecessor.

P.S. Have you seen my username and any of my comments? I'm a Mega Man fanboy, not an FF one!

I have two requests about the battle system before I even consider buying/wasting money on this game.

1) If the person you're controlling dies and at least one other active party member is still alive - DO NOT TELL ME IT'S A GAME OVER!

2) Don't make every single minor "trash mob" battle last ten bloody minutes to slog through.

FF XIII-2 ... worst naming system since the dawn of time

This would be a perfect opportunity to try my western Final Fantasy idea (active combat + one western character to mock them) but the only ones who will really buy FF are the fans who would never admit the game is anything but perfect.

I guess we have come to an impasse where FF will not evolve and is closing itself into a niche market, but that can still work until the old fans start dieing off.

I will buy it so long as I can at least move my leader around rather than have them group up with the other party members prior to a bosses AOE which would be survivable if they had not dragged the medics into range. Do that, and all is forgiven!

Fuck everyone else, I am buying FFXIII-2 and I am going to enjoy it.

If you don't fucking like it or don't want to play it, DON'T FUCKING TALK ABOUT IT. It's none of your damn business! Play whatever game YOU want and leave others preferences out of it!

I loved FFXIII's battle system for one simple reason. It wasn't the old ATB system.

Seriously, people ***** and complain that turn-based battle systems were shitty and slow, demanded JRPGs have more real-time battles.. FFXIII HAS THIS. It's almost an exact blend of the two. I have a blast chaining attacks that I know will send the chain gauge into overdrive so I can LAUNCH A BEHEMOTH INTO THE FUCKING AIR. Guys. Come on. BEHEMOTH. INTO THE AIR.

Hell, if you don't like it? Simple. As I described above, don't fucking ***** about it. Play another game you DO like. I'll be quite happy over here playing whatever the fuck I want.

Here's the kicker, they're TWO SCREENSHOTS. That's it. And you're already judging the game? Fucking hell.. The battle system is going to have similarities but changes will most likely be made!
Please, for the love of god, don't defend a feature in a game thats unanimously acknowledged as a terrible flaw.

What feature in this game is "unanimously acknowledged as a terrible flaw."? By what authority? I mean if you feel that way about a game, fine, voice that opinion but don't speak for everyone else and then treat it as fact, it's simply not true. A lot of people here so far have spoken up for the battle system. I think it's great. I've owned many Final Fantasy's over the years but it looks like XIII will end up as a favorite and the great Paradigm system is one of the reasons, the way you build your own weapons and equipment is another, and I love the story and great characters. You didn't like it, sorry. That doesn't make you auto-right or give you the right to speak for the valid opinions of others though.

You also assume that "everyone and their cat" would buy FFVII if remade. Not true, unless there was a drastic story change I would give it the miss for the same reason I didn't finish it. See? Just because you say it's everybody, it really never is everybody, assumptive agreements are just a weak way to argue and lead the reader to believe your point since y'know everybody else does. Except that they don't.

Oh. Just one more thing? Yeah, to ANYone who says they beat FFXIII with ONE button imput and to those who also say that FFXIII is nothing more that a corridor?? You. Lie. So knock it off.

so it's still going to be the same linear gamer as before, just with more characters? -sigh- They said that it would take too much time for an FF remake yet they continuously spawn sequels and spin-off's...

Personally I never used the auto-battle system, I demand strategy in my wins!
My gameplay is kinda like that, except it's more "I need to think of a new approach on how to tackle this person" since almost every battle is bound to be the same (but my personal fave is Vanille, Hope and Lightning) which is why I end up trying to maximizing the potential of every character.

It's a self-fulfilling goal that I try...
My favorite team is Lightning, Fang, and Vanille, she's an awesome medic, Hope I can't stand even though he's also a good medic. I will say the battles do end the same for most of them, except for the Titan Trials, I found I was switching my team up a lot more often. I do think about the up and coming battle a lot too, I try to find the fastest way to get rid of them without making it painful. Sometimes I couldn't avoid it though...

Oh wow look, Final Fantasy is whoring itself out some more.

That poor poor abused franchise. She showed so much potential.

the battle system could have been good if you could actually move your characters around in it, also the leader down thing.
One thing that i felt made the game a bit boring were the lackluster soundeffects.

Picture 2 : "Save it for later. You can Fight Can't you?"

Serah : "Dude it's Final Fantasy game. Nearly everyone from teenage girls to 12 year old kids can fight." XD lol, well that's what came to my mind first.

God damn it square, stop it. Stop making these. I'm tired of not having the force of will to avoid buying these.

Honestly thought that Noel was Fang in the first screen shot.
I thought the same thing.
Maybe we're on to something.

Also, fuck this game. I hated that battle system, and keeping it is a terrible choice. If it weren't for having to walk down pretty corridors, the game would literally play itself.

I hated the battle system in FFXIII. My favourite battle system was always the one in X or IV...But since I'm hooked on FF I'll still get it (begrudingly) and I'll finish it. I wish Square Enix wouldn't abuse their power over me too much though.

Personally, I thought the battle system was the only good thing about Final Fantasy XIII apart from the story, so I'm happy it's similar.

Shame that this sequel is going to fail. Why keep a garbage battle system? Why can't they make a battle system on par with the likes of Legend of Dragoon, Xenogears, or Grandia? It's like people enjoy learning from mistakes and keep on making them.
This sequel is a mistake. FF13 was a mistake. Not focusing on Versus XIII more is a mistake.
Hurry up with the good FFXIII game!

I see the Auto-Battle button is still there, that is enough to turn me off to this game.
Simple. Don't ever press that button. OMFG PROBREM SOLVED!!! :D It's ONE battle screenshot. How the fuck do you know if there's an option in the settings to TURN IT OFF.
You are totally right. Of course since I can get a five star rating nearly every battle with just pressing auto-battle, why would I waste my time picking out skill - attack - attack - attack?

People said the same thing with Oblivion's fast travel system "just don't use it" but everyone used it.
