I liked and i didn't like 13 at the same time, the battle system i hated, up until 12 (this includes the mmo 11) they've used the same battle system which i think is esentially a part of the final fantasy series which is that its turn based combat (with a hint a of real time), and i believe it worked rather well, but now if you look at the ones after 11 the battle system seem to change everytime a new one comes out and i've never really liked the others (10-2 i was iffy with, 12, and 13), with 13 being the worst with the fact that you have more or less no control over your party (yes you can manually choose for whoever your playing but the rest is down to the paradigm system).
I also found 13 to be the most linear thing out there, i haven't even finished it (one of the only FF's which i haven't finished, i got on the 2nd disc but not to the first town) because there was no choice in what to do, now i know a lot of people will say that all final fantasys are somewhat linear but come on at least with the predecessors you could at least do other things, i guess i wont know till next year since i wont have my housemates xbox to play on till then, think i might reactivate my 11 account and get hooked on that again.
